I suspect (and hope) it's what dmeyer suggested, that Ford simply hasn't had time to focus on campers. It shouldn't be a payload issue as long as one stays well under the maximum. Our Ranger's door sticker payload rating is 1,550 lbs, which is 400 lbs more than a similarly-equipped Tacoma. I...
No one seems to have noted that Ford is discouraging putting slide-in campers in the new Ranger.
Buried in a single line on page 13 of the huge Ranger Owner's manual:
Using a Slide-In Camper
We do not recommend using your pickup for carrying a slide-in camper
Nowhere in any of Ford's...
Just out of curiosity, has anyone looked into getting a replacement OEM rear camera yet? I ask because I'll be installing a slide-in pop-up camper soon and that means removing the tailgate, and thus will be losing the tailgate's backup camera. Most folks in this situation with Tacomas and...
We picked ours up last week. Silver XL 4x4 with FX4 package, towing package, bed liner. We'll be adding NERF bars/steps and air bags/cradles as soon as they become available in the aftermarket. Next week we're replacing the factory Hankook Dynapro ATM tires with higher-rated Falken Wildpeaks...
Well, that’s too bad, since the Dynapro LT version is apparently only a 6-ply rated tire rather than a 10-ply E load rating like the K02s. Not a high enough load rating to handle our camper. Oh well.
Thanks, yes, I did that. It was pretty cool to look from all angles. But it's even better to see a few shots of a "Real" truck, even one that just comes remotely close to what I've ordered. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but the computer-generated images just aren't quite the same as seeing a...
I'm also taking some hope from the 2018 F-150 brochure (https://www.ford.com/services/assets/Brochure?make=Ford&model=F-150&year=2018&postalCode=04863) that states the Raptor version comes with KO2s (page 22 of the brochure), so at least Ford is already using them on some factory truck orders...
I just did the same, also hoping they're the KO2s. My dealer added the "TEW" option onto my order. Looking at Tire Rack's online listings, the only two tires that have that designation ("LT 265/65 R 17 OWL") are the KO2s and Cooper Discoverer A/Ts. I assume that Ford would not do false...
