The TGD rage and 303 graphene love started this divide. Sometimes sitting on the fence and doing nothing that requires some sweat, fail, blood can put you on the cool side of things. Some people with two left hands can actually create a movement of being royalty detached and making diyers look...
Thank you! I should post a recording from inside the cab winter time. However, your reply gives confidence in case I will not succeed. Idle sound is easy … revving is also easy, making it sound ok on throttle deload is tough! Anyway, I am engaged in this project regardless of the outcome. As...
The factory noise is ok once warm like in the video. It is raising hell when cold. If you were talking about the sound in the video … not the USDM petrol one …
First sound sample of my DIY exhaust booster. It does not yet rev with the engine, only from a pot (not on video). The booster is on at 0:23.

Work in progress …
First sound sample. The enhancement sound comes only at 0:23. I can rev it from a pot now, the video is meant to let you guys hear the tiny diesel in the beginning. Lots of background noises, nature too ;).
This is just a mockup test for now. I’ve “connected” the roll cage underneath the tray. I’ve welded stainless tubing for the first time. Tips will come later if my other project is successful. 3” tubing.
Indeed. The fact they inject the sound in the exhaust is their choice, poor choice if you ask me as it damages the speaker as it also pulls (and pushes) hot exhaust gases against the cone as it moves. Just look what happened to that guy and there are many complaining and replacing their...
Meanwhile I am busy with the project. For now I have a mockup, very simple, with a microcontroller that replicates some exhaust sound on a piezo speaker. It's just a test.
If you want to see how Audis do the v8 sound in stock configuration, this is in german but you will get a lot of details...
That is an amazing idea, completely analog simple and could be effective! As said before doing a DSP processor will require some serious hardware.
I will give it some thought. Thank you!
No exhaust in this world or the next will output anything on this engine without a CAT and DPF delete, period! I am not going to do that!
Speaking of noise, my wish just got fulfilled today thanks to my wife!
One question: does yours have a DPF? If not, then it’s a different tone than I am speaking about. With a cat and dpf and a muffler, which is the stock configuration there is no exhaust tone only engine and that sounds uncultivated to say, at least.
That is something I did not consider. Engine load is definitely not going to depend on the pedal, especially with a manual gearbox. Many times I find myself in the wrong gear if I do not know the road :(. This may be a big issue.
I did that already. Anyway it will not help me as I’ve already flattened the EQ for my aftermarket sound system. I have a thread on that build. Thanks!
It’s not that complicated … theoretically. However I will have to do it without any OEM inside knowledge, trial and error. I write software like MS or Linux community does, however it is used is of course classified to me.
I am pretty sure the new V6 Raptors will have such an unit too for Baja...
