Yeah, I'm so far from knowing what I'm doing with this that I'm going to have it professionally installed. Especially with a wedding coming up soon, I'm not trying to re-injure myself before that! I found a local shop I'm happy with the price for the install and they aren't up charging for...
No going back now! I found a good open box deal on the Eibach kit and a coupon for the RAS. Should be here next Tuesday. All in for parts I’m right around $1500. Now I have to decide if I want to do it myself or pay for the install. I’m leaning towards paying since my back is still hit or miss...
Definitely. That's why I'm leaning that way over this. Just weighing options. And then I see that shiny Knoxville Driveline driveshaft and wonder how much abuse my wallet can take....
I like the sound of all that! It definitely sounds similar to what the clanker was spiting out. Did it improve the ride unloaded as well? Did you keep it at the heavier (40%) setting all the time? The clanker keeps recommending that I keep at the lighter level (25%) since I'll be mostly unloaded...
DANG! I'm really impressed. That's better on mileage than I seem to get with my Cooper Road and Trails that would be 12+ lbs a piece lighter. Especially surprised since I had KO3s on my F150 and it dropped my mileage 1-2mpg on average. Maybe I just suck at driving!
Ah, the bump stops sound like they’re not for me then. I guess I didn’t post in here and just in the build journal. I currently don’t tow anything. Eventually I’d like to haul some stuff for camping (rack, rooftop tent, fridge in the bed with the battery/solar system from my old F150) which is...
This is where I'm at and my major concern for the Bilsteins even though I saw they may be softer than the 5100s. After going back and forth with a clanker for a bit it spit this out:
So now I'm thinking the Eibach 2R system with the RAS is the way to go. One of the biggest concerns I have is...
Looking to get some input. I’ve been trying to decide which shocks/struts to upgrade to and whether or not to upgrade the leaf springs.
Currently I have the stock FX4 shocks and leaf springs and I’m not thrilled the options for shocks/struts I’m looking at are:
Eibach 2R: appear to be the...
Got all the new sensors installed and reset the KAM. Struggled to get tow/haul mode to shift well (going into 2nd was always a bit harsh). Standard drive has improved tremendously. Only the occasional delayed shift from 3 to 4 on the first drive of the day. Next up is getting the transmission...
Got the letters, hood struts, spark plugs installed today:
And most importantly…. The damper!:
The drive after felt a little more responsive. Probably has ~51 more horsepower (1 from the new Ruthenium plugs and 50 from the damper). The old plugs were in decent shape but happy to get them...
I’ve had similar, although I would say more minor issues. Seeing these threads with people taking their Rangers in to have diagnostics run on the transmission is making me think I should while I’m still under the powertrain warranty.
Rough and delayed 3-4 shift when it’s cold
Some seemingly...
