We had maligators along with Dutch and German shepherds. Drugs and people mostly. Not trained to bite but some were defiantly biters. Most of K9s were crazy or OCD.
Ours
i think the dogs sense that we humans wanna slap the bad guy sometimes. and being humans best friend just gives the perp a lil chomp for us.

That's what we all said too. He (the dog) was just standing there with what appeared to be a grin on his face after the handler pulled him away. It was hilarious.
We helped IPD out with a pursuit one night. Suspect went into a trailer court, one way in and out, after he realized he was hosed he tried to run. IPD let their dog out and it was all over but the shouting and screaming. Guy kept kicking while the K9 had his calf. When the handler got everyone settled down and got the k9 to release, he came away with the suspects calf in his mouth...the whole calf. He made him spit it out while 1st aid was applied, handler turned to check on the dog, he was still sitting right there licking his lips and the calf was gone. That suspect will have a permanent limp.

He had stolen an suv in Bloomington IN , we spotted him coming into the county and it was on, all the way to the Indianapolis Airport, thru the Hiltons hedge row and entry to the parking garage and thru the drop down gate and then down the street to the trailer court.
