  1. Anyone say, I should have purchased a different truck?

I saw mine hit 28 mpg once, but doing the math manually I found out the truck is 2-3 mpg optimistic on what it's reporting... so 24 mpg turned out to actually be 22 mpg... etc. Still not terrible, but I'd think a turbo 4 cylinder could do better. The naturally aspirated V6 in my Nissan Frontier...
  2. Anyone say, I should have purchased a different truck?

Yeah, the sheet metal seems especially thin and the dings come sooo easily. Pretty aggravating.
  3. It happened - 78k miles - CEL flashing and BAD shudder under load

I'd bet on a misfire issue. When my 2019 started bucking and lugging over several months, I never once got a CEL, which convinced me I had one of the flaky 10R80 trannys not an engine issue. Pick up a Blue Driver or some other decent OBDII plug-in analyzer and check your codes. It may save you a...
  4. Anyone say, I should have purchased a different truck?

I feel your pain with the transmission. The last several months I had my 2019 the jerking, lugging, etc., especially driving slow through town, and the hard downshifts coming to a stop from highway speeds ke I feel your pain with the transmission issues. The last several months I had my 2019...
  5. Traded in the Ranger today

I can relate to the transmission issue. Mine was clunking and jerking pretty badly at lower speeds. That's the main reason I traded mine in on Friday. Wanted to get rid of it before then powertrain warranty ran out in February. ??‍♂️
  6. Traded in the Ranger today

Trucks are holding value. My 2019 Ranger XLT 4X4 brought $24K at an off-brand dealership on Friday.
  7. Traded the Ranger :-(

I just did the same thing yesterday. I decided to cut my losses before my drivetrain warranty ran out in a couple of months. Traded for a new Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. OMG.. I love it! Drives and handles like a bigger truck. Got a decent trade-in value.
  8. Traded the Ranger :-(

Yeah, I questioned buying the "new" Ranger first year out, but figured they probably had the quirks worked out as they built them for so many years in Australia. Who knew? A large percentage of used trucks for sale on CarGurus are newer Rangers... not a great sign. I really don't have the money...
  9. Average life of the stock battery?

Mine was 23 months old when it died. But the truck did sit at the dealership for a couple of months before I bought it. Probably contributed to the early death. I've had OEM batteries last as much as 9 years.
  10. Traded the Ranger :-(

I've been having noticable transmission issues for a while. Only 36,000 on my 2019 XLT. I've been eyeing the 2024 Tacoma pretty hard in case the dealer can't get this straightened out. I love my truck otherwise.
  11. Rust at end of bed liner. Truck only has been registered for 1.5 years

Line-X is cheap insurance, relative to repairs. I had mine sprayed as soon as I could after purchase.
  12. Turn signal lane change ... is this normal?

My 2019 XLT also does 3 blinks with a quick bump. If I'm a bit slow it won't do 3 blinks so I just pop it into detent.
  13. Dead Battery

My 2019 Ranger (built Feb 2019) battery bit the dust at 23 months. I turned the Auto Update feature off right after I bought it. I can only guess sitting in the dealer lot for a couple of months before I bought it during the "lockdown" didn't do it any good. I drive it every day so we'll see...
  14. 3 yr Rangerversary = FORD survey

I'm guessing these surveys are going out to owners of new vehicles. I bought mine with 4,700 miles on it when it was a year old. No surveys yet.
  15. Very disappointed in truck quality

My truck is 4 years old. I've not had flaking issues, but it definitely dents easier than any other vehicle I've had. Also started noticing the 8th gear shifting issues several months ago. Not sure what to do about it. Guess I'll mention it to the service department next time I take it in.
  16. Driver door armrest solutions? General comfort for tall leggy types?

6'2" here. I'm pretty happy with the comfort, but I have to admit, it would be nice if the steering wheel came back another couple of inches as I have to have the seat all the way back.
  17. Hesitation: transmission or something else?

I have to drive in a 25 MPH zone for a couple of miles when I leave work. My truck hesitated and lugged a lot, running as high as 7th gear at 25-30 MPH. I started using "Tow Mode" (per a suggestion from group members) until I get to a higher speed zone. That made all the difference. The towing...
  18. Will the 6g Ranger eventually be offered as a supercab?

As a single senior, a SuperCab is the only sensible option for me. I'll be disappointed if they discontinue them. Although I'll probably drive my 2019 until the wheels fall off. ?
  19. Why don't we have actual small trucks any more? Best deep dive I've seen.

This is a great explanation. It makes perfect sense. I've been wondering about this for years.
