  1. Ranger Camper Limitation

We put on a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W E-rated tires in a 265/70/17 size. They have been fabulous. Incredibly tough off-road, and very quiet on the highway.
  2. Ranger Camper Limitation

I'm going to try and find an FM antenna or booster that mounts on the camper and can be wired into the truck radio. We installed a shorty as a replacement for the stock antenna, but it was no better. In remote areas in AZ and NM we had better cell signal on our phones than FM reception on the...
  3. Ranger Camper Limitation

Have you played around with replacing or upgrading the radio antenna at all? We've found that the reception is crappy with the camper on, a tin-can effect blocking signal to the stock antenna on the cab roof,.
  4. Ranger Camper Limitation

We just completed the second half of an extended 10,000-mile shakedown cruise for our FWC Fleet shell and 2019 Ranger, both of which performed flawlessly. The FWC systems all ran perfectly, the new Ranger handled jeep trails as well as highway speeds comfortably, ranging from 15-21 mpg...
  5. Ranger Camper Limitation

We just completed a 6,000 mile trip across the US and all over Arizona. The rig performed flawlessly, averaging 18-19 mpg. The Falken tires proved tough and reliable offroad, and surprisingly quiet at highway speeds. The Ranger’s terrain management system (like a slow cruise control for rock...
  6. Ranger Camper Limitation

We have not yet installed a substitute camera - I'm waiting for the aftermarket to catch up and make one specifically for the Ranger. The current solution available is a more generic one-size-fits-all camera in a housing, which I'd rather not pursue. Go as light as you can in a shell, but...
  7. Ranger Camper Limitation

Upgraded leaf springs were installed on our Ranger yesterday to better handle an 1,100-lb camper load. The first photo below shows comparison between the stock single-leaf parabolic spring (bottom) and upgraded multi-leaf progressive spring (top). We've already seen a huge improvement in...
  8. Someone, besides me, loves the 2019 Ford Ranger XL Supercab

Here's another view, this time with our new pop-up camper installed, along with our new side steps (Ford accessory, ordered after purchase and saved $$$ versus adding as an option when we ordered the truck).
  9. Gas Mileage

    Computer calculated.
  10. Someone, besides me, loves the 2019 Ford Ranger XL Supercab

Me too. Love our XL 4x4 with only a few offroad additions.
  11. Gas Mileage

4x4 with FX4 and LT265-70-17 E-rated off-road tires, 1800-mile round trip Virginia to Maine, 60-65 mph interstates, 91 and 93 octane fuel, 24.5 mpg overall.
  12. Missing bolt on tailgate pillar?

Aha! I found all the other holes, which were less visible due to the spray-in bedliner protecting them. The two on the tailgate pillar were simply omitted from the bedliner materials, so were visible. Mystery solved!
  13. Ranger Camper Limitation

No, we use the Ranger as a pickup truck 80% of the time, and so we take off the camper when not using it. Unloading the camper is an easy exercise with the jacks. Loading it is a bit more involved and slower due to the close fit on the bed and the need for a spotter to help guide the driver...
  14. Missing bolt on tailgate pillar?

I just noticed that my new XL has an open bolt hole on each side of the tailgate pillar, above the tailgate latch (see photo). Does anyone know if this is for attaching some kind of bed accessory, or am I missing a bolt on each side?
  15. Yakima Rack + Truxedo Sentry CT

Thanks! Just what I needed to know.
  16. Yakima Rack + Truxedo Sentry CT

Can you tell me the exact measured height from the cab roof surface to the very top of the crossbars? I’m trying to figure out a roof rack setup that will fit in the 6” gap under my slide-in cabover camper. Thanks.
  17. Ranger Camper Limitation

Quick update on our Ranger suspension testing. Our stock FX4 Ranger came rated with a 1,550 lb payload, but our new camper shell came in weighing roughly 1,050 lbs, about 150 lbs higher than expected. Although the engine handles the weight fine, the slight lowering of the back end and minor...
  18. Ranger Camper Limitation

We cautiously proceeded to install our new Four Wheel Camper (FWC) shell on our Ranger. The truck’s stock suspension (with FX4 off-road package) seemed to handle the FWC's weight (~1000lbs) fine on a recent 200-mile trip, with only a slight lowering of the back end, the parabolic leaf spring...
  19. 2019 Ranger MPGs

2019 Ranger XL 4x4 with FX4 package and Falken Wildpeak ATM 265/70-17 tires. 600 miles on truck so far. Recent 200-mile trip using cruise control (figures are from dashboard "avg mpg" display - I will do more accurate testing over time) - 23 mpg unloaded on 65 mph highway; then 17 mpg carrying...
  20. Hankook to supply original equipment tire to 2019 Ford Ranger

Buyer beware. I had selected the LT tire upgrade on my 2019 Ranger order, and it arrived three weeks ago with a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM LT265/65-17. Because I expect to carry heavy loads frequently in my Ranger, I was expecting and hoping for a 10-ply LT Dynapro (RF-10) with an E load...
