I would have found a different dealer, if you weren't looking to pay MSRP. These aren't some sort of high performance, low volume special edition trucks, ...in the end, just a run-of-the-mill truck, of which, Ford will make another one just like it minutes later.
Other than that, nice build!
Remember, if you are comparing Extended Cab, 2wd, that will get you 1,860 lbs payload. If you are in the market for Crew Cab, 4x4, that starts at 1,500 lbs, add options, and payload rating will further decrease.
I'm pretty confident that similarity optioned Crew Cab 4x4's will be fairly close with payload between the competition as that will be majority of sales.
Interesting.
Considering Job #1 doesn't start until November 26, 2018, then probably a 60-90 day 'Factory Hold', which places on dealer lots around February 2019, which lines up with all of Ford's current and initial product material. That dealer may be a little optimistic with their timeline.
I suspect Ford needs to be cognizant of SAE J2807 towing standards. Directly placing a car engine and tune into a truck could be a nightmare if many parameters aren't reevaluated for the engines duty cycle in a truck vs. car application. It really doesn't have anything to do with price. The use...
Joe here, been following the mid-size truck market since 2015, but nothing has checked enough of my boxes for a purchase. The Ford Ranger offering looks promising, but still is missing some features I am looking to check off my list. I do like the use of I4 2.3L-T and 10AT, should pair well...
I personally don't see the Ranger coming in at over 300HP, but of course, I wouldn't complain if it did. An engine suited for truck duty, typically is tuned for less HP, especially if it is an engine (for the most part) that is shared with a car based counterpart. The main reason for the use of...
On another note, I may have missed earlier on the Build and Price tool, but I just noticed Ford added the tonneau cover options and pricing of such. I could have just been blind and missed such earlier.
...that and lack of heated steering wheel, especially considering the heated seats, heated side mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer are all available. I live in the NE, any warm comforts I can get, I'm all for purchasing.
I enjoy the sunroof in my current vehicle, not sure if I can live...
Those MPG's would be class leading and if it were true, would put them extremely close to GM's I4 2.8L-TD in the Colorado/ Canyon 4x4. Of course, diesel engines are different, especially on range and towing. If Ford actually delivers on their marketing - V6 power, with I4 efficiency - then the...
Speaking of GM, those should be due for a refresh for MY2020, and you can bet that content will be added and costs will increase. They do have access to their new I4 2.7L-T engine, which was designed from the ground up for truck use they could utilize on upper level trims for an option. Jury...
Remember, this engine is going into a truck, the duty cycle and heat management requirements are completely different than what is required in car form.
The horsepower and torque rating I would expect to be around 275-295HP and around 300-320 TQ. They could take HP and TQ, but I'd be curious...
Being Ford is taking their sweet time releasing power, towing, payload, and efficiency specifications, I'd assess all those to get a good idea of where Ranger should or is expected to fall. You could start at looking at the Jeep Unlimited (JLU), w/ 2.0L turbo engine (Mild Hybrid Assist) w/ 8...
