Some people might think the Lariat package is a waste of money. I had an F-150 Lariat and the leather was cheap and after years of actual offroading, it deteriorated pretty quickly. FX4 package was cheaper on an XLT than a standard 4x4 with Lariat. That's not very reassuring for a trim level...

I know it's been a while since this thread was started, and the first page of replies had a lot of differing opinions, but the "bouncy" feel of the Ranger FX4 has mostly to do with its shock settings. The reason why a Tacoma with Fox suspension bounces less is because it's likely a stiffer shock...

Sweet! I'm in a small parking garage too and I found the lowest hanging pipe to be right at 80 inches. When we put the Yakima ski rack on top, it scrapes, so I have to take it off every time I pull in the garage. But the stock height of the Ranger FX4 is 71.5 inches, if I recall correctly.

There was a rumor a few years ago that the Ranger (and Bronco) would possibly have solid front axles with locking diffs. I wonder if this was ever talked about extensively at Ford, or just industry gossip. Anyway, thanks for the post, Phil.

Some good looking bikes in here! Makes me want to ride again...last time I was on a mountain bike I broke my collarbone lol. Have a Snugtop on our FX4, so I'll probably use the Kuat rack on my Jeep whenever it's time to shuttle with the Ranger.

Nice to see some Georgia people in the thread. I was born and raised in North Atlanta but live in California now. I got the FX4 because I'm going to be using this truck a lot for overlanding and getting up mountains in the snow/ice. I plan on adding a Fox suspension kit and better tires...

I'm sure the SCAB rear seats are tiny. But man that is a good looking truck, too!

Do you notice your shell ever smells like gas? I just bought a couple ROTOPAX cans and I'm worried about keeping them inside the shell when full. Have thought about exterior mounts.
