I'm in Florida most of the time. My truck has never seen snow. Every time I wash the truck I find more and more chips. Especially along the leading lower edge of the bed. My truck is metallic white.
I can understand why the hitting the gas and brake at the same time seems logical. However want to be clear it has absolutely nothing to do with what I'm experiencing.
Thanks for all the thoughtful replies and discussion! Nice to hear I'm not alone and many different theories are being discussed. Turbo Back pressure, torque converter, Autostart/stop are all possibilities. Doc's post especially resonates.
My lemon-law letter is in progress. As I...
My 2019 Lariat 2WD with approx 5000 miles has developed a really dangerous issue. This has happened now about a half dozen times.
When decelerating quickly and coming to a complete stop, the engine cuts off and the truck leaps forward a couple of feet overpowering the brakes.
Once it happened...
Regardless the would contact them and get the bolt-on brackets. Then you only need 4 clamps and it’s super strong and secure. If your clamping the soft steel that’s gapped from the plastic rail caps... it’s gotta be all squished up... the brackets fill the gap with hard steel.
Likely you can...
Is anyone having issues with paint chips? My Lariat is just over a month old with the tricoat white and every time wash the thing I'm finding more and more paint chips. Been touching them up with a toothpick but it sure is ridiculous.
The paint is super thin and brittle. Really aggravating...
I would contact them and get those brackets as the rails are flimsy and there’s a 5/16” gap between the steel and the plastic bed rail covers.
According to them this is the only safe way to attach a heavier tonneau. My BakFlip almost flew off the truck and it’s a serious liability.
Here's the result. Ended up pulling the liner out 2 more times to trim it just right around the brackets. Very minor, did it with a utility knife. Wanted the liner to lay completely flat on the walls.
Took a little bit of adjusting to get it completely symmetrical and square. But this thing...
Pls add me to the lowering list - cheers
From Sema... I'm imagining they removed the rear leaf springs and mounted a rear coil spring with an adjustable perch...
OK, I guess I answered my own questions. I had no idea it was so easy to remove the factory drop in liner. Did it on my own no problem. Brackets installed which give the tonneau rail clamps something to securely bite against. This will make the thing completely secure.
Guys - take a look at these... I'm talking about the 4 black bolt-on brackets as opposed to the Aluminum clamps. No way these can mount without with the factory liner in there.
Thanks for your reply, but maybe re-read my first post. Not talking about the BakFlip model. The Bak revolver uses four bolt on brackets, separate from the 6 clamps similar to the BakFlip model. These brackets will not install with the factory bed liner.
Just got a complementary Revolver X4 from Bak Industries. This was offered as a replacement for the BakFlip X2 which due to wrong clamps shipped (from the factory...) almost flew off my truck. Thing literally lifted up in the air and could have killed somebody.
Problem with the Revolver X4 is...
