You were right about the wrench. Managed to get it off today, but it was on there good! Had it soaking in penetrating oil for 2 days and it took some muscle to get it off.
I've got a small 3" and 4" pulley puller ordered. Hopefully I can get it off with just taking the lower fan shroud off...
Amazing! Thanks for the files. I just checked, and yup, I don't have those sections. You wouldn't happen to have a wiring diagram for the AC Clutch would you? I have another issue with the AC Clutch aside from just the Pulley Bearing, which may or may not be related to the wiring harness.
Thanks for that page. I've downloaded the free service manual that I found on the forum, but I don't think I have that page. Or if I do it's hidden quite well.
I've got the spring clutch plate. Any ideas on how to rotate the plate while holding the bolt? I think 24 ft/lbs is a bit more than...
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hold the clutch plate while I try and loosen the center bolt? Is that bolt LH threaded?
I can't see any places where a pin wrench/spanner or a pulley holder would work and I can't put a strap wrench around the pulley either.
I was planning to run...
Yup, I can spin the middle part of the pulley no problem.
According to FORscan I have 550kPa (80psi) of pressure so I'm not out of refrigerant unless the sensor is wrong.
That is fantastic. I knew the sewing machine sound was normal, but wasn't aware that tick/tock sound was normal as well.
On another note, does anyone know if I am able to replace just the AC clutch without having to remove the compressor? Based on other threads it seems like I may be able to...
Is there anything I can do to be able to drive it without worrying about it getting worse? I was looking at the AC bypass pulleys but I can't seem to find one that'll fit my Ranger. Any other ideas?
Thanks for the info. I never considered the feedback of the fan RPM to the PCM.
Good to know...
Alright, so I think I have confirmed that it is the AC compressor/clutch.
This is the engine with the AC belt removed. There is still a rythmic ticking sound in there, but it's definitly not the same ticking/knocking that I was trying to diagnose. So if anyone knows what this ticking sound is...
Alright, so I'm like 90% sure it's the AC compressor. Using a stethoscope that ticking sound gets really frickin' loud in the stethoscope when I touch it off it. Hoping to remove the AC belt at some point to confirm 100%.
With that being said and my AC not working anyways, is there any problems...
So turns out my thread got posted twice. I posted another video with the engine sounds while revving in my other thread.
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/engine-ticking-during-idle-not-under-load.39213/
Got another video of the engine. So turns out the ticking doesn't go away as I thought with higher RPMs... at least not revving the engine while in neutral. Take it with a grain of salt, but it does sound like it goes away when I accelerate, but that's from the cabin. I tried recording in the...
Hey everyone,
Got a 2019 Ranger here. The engine started ticking the other day and sounds like the in the attached video. Does anyone know what it is? The only other related threads I found were the fan clutch but my ticking seems to be too fast to be that. It's closer to the RPM of the engine...
