Ok, I did all the checking at the battery and everything seemed ok, so before getting into the BCM, I ran forscan on it and was able to detect and reset the error. But your help as always is invaluable.
Dog gonit, I must not have clicked the option to get an email when someone replied, and you are the exact person I was hoping to see it. So now, let me study your suggestions and get back to you.
Thanks Airline Tech
I am/was getting a bms code. Bought a new bms and getting same code.
Just to be clear, I am talking about that little box on the neg battery terminal.
There are two wires coming from it. One going to the + and the other going to somewhere I can't see.
Tried to use my scanner to do a reset...
Roger on the Rotate.
And I do see the BJB's on ebay.
Can't help but to think that would be a good idea.
Really appreciate the help.
I'll keep you updated.
Mike
Ok, the pictures you posted cleared up a lot.
You may be right about the BMS.
I took a pic before exploring and now that I know what the BMS is, notice in the first pic
that the bms has the connector plugged in.
Then after unplugging everything from the BJB I notices that the plug to...
ok, the bms I am talking about is a very large box type thing just in back
of the battery. With a few huge plugs connecting everything together.
We must be talking about diff things, I really doubt anything would work
with this disconnected.
Ok, some additional info
Took the truck for a drive, and minutes into the ride I got a "Hill Climb Error" , acknowledged
it and kept driving. Got home and wanted to see if that had popped a code but all I saw
was the lights code and a Battery monitor module error. I reset it and checked...
Ok, I'm starting to feel like someone that thinks they know a lot standing talking
to guys that really are experts. The tests and theories all sound legit but I think I
am going to drive it and collect more information.
But Here's some ugly additional info.
The truck was hit passenger...
Ok, took the truck for a scary trip around the block hoping it wouldn't light up and strand me
having to call a tow truck. I drove it hard accelerating stopping jerking etc
Anyways ... there was no engine light or any other warnings. Everything worked good. Hooked
up the scanner and only...
Man, that would be nice. I wish I had the means to load test it. The battery only died one time, and never even seemed to be "low" after that. But hard to argue with an EE, so maybe I'll take it to
autozone or similar to have it tested.
thanks Chris
Dog gonnit ... I do have to admit that I AM able to drive the truck and that all the error msgs
are intermittent and not continuous. But the scanner Always shows the bcm bad, it lets me
reset it but comes back immediately.
I did buy the truck with a salvage title so it was smacked pretty...
The other day I was driving and came to a stop. All the dash lights came on and complained
about everything from collision avoidance to backup aid. Anyways it wouldn't start
or even come out of drive. With a line of cars behind me, I might add. So I jumped out '
and pulled one of the battery...
I appreciate all the info Airline Tech even if a bit over my head. But you did clear a lot of stuff
up for me.
I read some claims from the cloning people and they say that it's a one stepper, nothing else
needed. Keys and all. It's even in the BIG print, lol. But seriously, I will buy...
Thank you so much, Airline tech
Exactly what I needed. I read many articles about the complications but no one
showed the removal process.
My Foxwell says if can do keys for vehicles with IMMO? so not sure.
It also says it can reprogram replaced modules
I have to go a little further down...
I have to admit that when my wife, she is Amtrak retired also and my conductor, anyways when she calls it's pretty common for her to say, jezzz they don't know what they're are doing ... so quite possible.
