Here it is the end of June and this issue is still going on. A dealer has had my truck for weeks as they change things.
I'm not sure what they have guessed at so far but now they are telling me it is the APM or something and they are on national back order. They don't know how long it will be...
Now that is very helpful!!! A rock-solid satellite signal eliminates the main coax that runs straight through the splitter. I don't know the antenna details, but GPS is around 1.5 GHz and Sirius XM is around 2.3 GHz. The antenna MIGHT share the same antenna connections for both bands and be a...
When I first bought my 2023 Ranger FX4 the radio AM and FM was basically stone dead. The dealer said an antenna cable was not plugged in correctly. The radio works great now. I can even listen to a Havana Cuba station on 530 AM at night.
But, the GPS is dropping out all the time. It works, then...
The dealer came down with a loaner and took my truck back for warranty work.
They called Monday and said the radio was okay and I said, "Have someone else check it again or check it yourself".
They called back and said, "Yes, it does have a problem".
They called today, Thursday, and said it...
The big issue with AM radios these days is the manufacturers use long high capacitance leads to crappy little antennas. AM antennas are very high impedance voltage probes. The antenna impedance is off the charts so any shunt capacitance in the lead to the radio just kills the signal voltage...
AM radio has a range from dozens of miles to many thousands of miles, depending on the time of day and the station.. There is no place in the USA no matter how remote that does not have some AM broadcast coverage. I listen to a Caribbean station in the evenings in my Honda. My Ranger cannot hear...
Thanks, everyone. Naturally, if someone searches there are many "the radio just sucks" threads.
The first thing was eliminating the antenna (which I did) and then learning that this system should work reasonably well.
I have a little device that will tell me the approximate distance to a bad...
I'm an EE that does new RF equipment design. I mostly use AM radio when not on Sirius or a zip drive, and sometimes FM. I have a new Ranger that seems to have no AM at all and very poor FM. I first thought the antenna cable or connection was bad. Now I'm not sure.
This radio is really...
