its foam not plastic and it cuts down on the injector noise, so it serves an actual purpose, also why the hell does it bother you so much if people do stuff to their car you don't like?

Mine died, replaced battery after waiting a month for dealer to replace mine "it's on back order". Why is everyone else getting them if it is on back order?

is anyone elses TVD "E" a little too short by about 1/4" to 3/8" the tines don't go all the way to fill the recessed area at the ends (the right side of the letter E)?

I'd say it took me under 10 minutes to do the complete install. Have some RTV handy though to reseal the insulation you have to pull back around the lock, it may not want to restick. I also placed my controller between door card padding and door foam insulation, not inside the door itself...
