Yeah I have a different Ford with McPherson front struts and the three top bolts are almost impossible to get to. Those trick nuts self-start even if you can barely get them in there.
Had to think on this some to get my mind around the difference. Consider the difference between adding a 1/2 inch top mount spacer between strut and chassis versus adding a 1/2 inch spacer between perch and spring.
So here's what I came up with. At normal ride height, both increase the strut...
I talked to the guy at Traxda about the short threads. He says the threads aren't short, Ford put a weird tall nut with the bottom threads removed. His kit includes regular nuts with threads all the way through. If you're concerned, pull a nut off and take a look.
Reading up getting ready for a small front levelling lift. Saw multiple recommendations for freeing the strut by disconnecting lower A-arm instead of disconnecting the knuckle. But all the YouTube vids I found go thru the knuckle. Anyone have a video link for the A-arm technique? Is it more...
Just got back from Ranger's 1st Club run -- Inyo Crest trail. Kept me on my toes as I'm used to 35's and a 6" lift which will damn near clear a beach ball. The stock Ranger can't clear a soccer ball, so I had to put my tires onto a lot of rocks I would normally straddle. It took a few knocks...
Thanks guys...I don't anticipate coming across any terrain that the truck can't do stock -- and if it happens? That's why I'm in a club with serious guys with winches and tow straps. :)
(hmmm. Better check my tow points.)
I mostly just don't want damage or flats. Did the "bonked" Ford...
I do serious rock crawling with a Jeep club. Have a modified Rubicon which is great for the trails, but not so much on highway. So I plan to use my 19 SLT 4x4 for mild club runs and want to only do the bare minimum of stuff for that purpose. Nice that mine already has an E-locker. Reading...
