  1. Preserving that pristine factory paint job

Thanks! That hybrid stuff ain't cheap, so I'm hoping it I only have to do it twice a year. The good thing is that it's not particularly labor intensive, and overspray doesn't seem to damage the surrounding trim. Unlike Turtle Wax, which was an all-day job, and I still ended up with residue I...
  2. Lets see those Cab window decals!!

Just the alma mater so far, but it sure as hell stands out.
  3. Preserving that pristine factory paint job

It's just a lowly XL, but that doesn't mean I can't give it that car show shine. Clay bar, ceramic hybrid wax. My only regret is that I waited six months after purchase, and it had already lived through a summer of being parked outside in the sunlight and getting covered in bug splatter. There's...
  4. What are you guys towing?

I posted mine a month or two ago, but I thought I would share this shot from our last camping trip in western Michigan. Couldn't be happier with our truck's performance towing a solid body travel trailer. The trailer is 23' exterior (19' interior) and weighs 3900 lbs dry. A joy to pull as long...
  5. SHOW ME YOUR RTT!!!!!!

I'm less worried about the well-lit, 24-hour Walmart parking lot than I am about an interstate highway rest stop. Mainly because I don't want some cop to think I'm cruising ?
  6. Report your MPG

Edit: We have a 2021 XL 2WD, SuperCab with about 5,000 miles. My husband is a fantastic hyper-miler. He drove our Ranger 259 miles on 8.3 gallons, for a whopping 31.27 mpg. The trip was from the Milwaukee suburbs to Indianapolis. Flat, but 70+ mph except around Chicago. He gets 24 mpg out of...
  7. SHOW ME YOUR RTT!!!!!!

I'm interested in some kind of rig like this for sleeping in Walmart parking lots and public rest areas. Anyone have any luck doing that? (Sorry if this has been addressed already. I don't have time to read through 11 pages ?)
  8. SuperCab Love

Ours is 19' inside, 23' from tongue to tail. It's only 3900 lbs dry. The Ranger can power up hills without even stressing. I think weight isn't as much a concern as wind resistance. At a certain speed, weight becomes largely irrelevant. We try not to push it over 55 mph because I think that's...
  9. SuperCab Love

I wavered between the SuperCab and SuperCrew, but since 99% of the time we won't have to seat more than two people. We did have an emergency pop up a couple weeks ago where we needed to seat three, and while it wasn't exactly comfortable, a large person could fit in the back. The SuperCab has...
  10. Slip on mirrors

I have a pair of mirrors with straps. I found them a pain to use, and they weren't much of an improvement over the convex insets on the factory mirrors. Those are more than adequate for towing an 8' wide trailer.
  11. What are you guys towing?

I've had this setup out several times now, and I'm extremely pleased. We try to avoid the freeway as much as possible on trips. Sometimes the route is even shorter in miles. On the freeway, I keep it under 65 mph (in a 65 or 70 zone) to mitigate the massive wind drag of a 10' x 8' frontal area...
  12. Why Are Some Tacoma Owners Like This?

No beef with the Tacoma, but I was searching for info about them, and next thing I know, my browser was full of ads for Axe Body Spray and whey protein.
  13. Why Are Some Tacoma Owners Like This?

A guy saw my new Ranger, said it looked sick, and amazing for the price. I told him that we bought ours for a very specific reason: be a light trailer TV that is small and efficient enough to be my daily commuter. I also told him this: The Ford Ranger is superb. The Chevy/GMC Colorado/Canyon is...
  14. What are you guys towing?

Keystone/Coleman 192RD 23' (19' box) solid-body travel trailer, 3,974 lbs dry weight. Like most TTs, it has a nearly 80 sq-ft frontal area. Driving a reasonable 60 mpg on flat roads, I'm getting 11 mpg. I consider anything in the double digits to be good. Manage your expectations. Hauling a...
  15. What are you guys towing?

Ranger max frontal area: 55 sq-ft. F-150 equipped to tow 7,700 lbs: 55 sq-ft. Translation: If you can tow it with a towing-equipped V6 half-ton, you can tow it with a Ranger. Don't drive faster than 65 mph and plan on stopping for gas every two hours.
  16. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Hey, everyone! We bought our new XL SuperCab two months ago and love it! After some extensive research, the Ranger was the obvious choice for our needs: 1. Under $30k (We got ours for under $25k before add-ons) 2. MPG that isn't catastrophic (I'm getting 23 in combined driving) 3. Can pull a...
