Yeah, I'm gonna look at all of the wiring I did this weekend. My biggest fear was that I was frying a wire in the clock spring itself, but if yours is working fine that sounds reassuring. Thanks!

It's a piece of crap. The other head units from them apparently retain all functionality in like f-150s and explorers. But when I installed mine the backup camera didn't work, audio only came out of 3 speakers, and the air conditioning didn't work. I might get one again if they fix these major...

You can go experiment right now. Pull on that column cover with you body weight, it'll come right off. The curtain airbag is installed behind there and I'd imagine the foreign models that have grab handles on both sides either don't have those airbags or a metal bracket was built into the airbag...
