  1. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Thanks Wes, functionality was the main goal here. Still considering the rear sway bar but ultimately I think the truck seems to handle just fine without it. I am one to drive conservatively with the camper on, the potential minuets saved never seems to be worth the risk (or the drop in MPG for...
  2. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Got off this forum for a good amount of time but I am back! I did a full OME suspension kit from @Stage3Motorsports with medium duty springs, bronco steelies, and C load range general grabber atx tires. I won't go in depth into tire choice, it was partially determined by what was already on the...
  3. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Thanks for the input. How are you liking the ride quality (both on and off road) of your current suspension setup so far? It is unlikely that I will be installing airbags as a load aid in my case. I am leaning heavy toward OME but have now spent a few additional hours gathering info on their...
  4. Increased payload capacity for camper.

The photo is with the camper open, this is not a high profile camper nor is it heavy. Anyone not familiar with FWC campers and their associated weight should look further into them. ALL OVER THER WORLD people are using "mini trucks" with overland setups or for true work trucks. True many...
  5. Increased payload capacity for camper.

I didn't realize you could get Fox, King etc to custom match to the spring rate. For those that decide on a leaf spring upgrade it seems like Deaver is highly regarded but that people have issues with the spring rate not matching up with the damping on aftermarket shocks. I'll reach out to Fox...
  6. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Thanks for the great input. The hellwig sway bar is on order and tires will be sorted after the suspension upgrades are finalized.
  7. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Haha! I don't mind having some rake still... I use my truck as a truck not a show piece and having some rake is a necessity to keep it level when loaded... Not to mention when the camper is not in the truck I generally have 300-400 lbs of tools in the bed until I get my new dedicated work...
  8. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Thanks Phil. I can certainly appreciate the design and testing that goes into a vehicle as a whole especially when such a large company like Ford is involved. No disrespect to the engineers but I am open to seeing how certain aftermarket parts perform on the truck for my very specific use case...
  9. Increased payload capacity for camper.

' Thanks for bringing the sway bar up! Makes sound sense to me in this case, especially in that in reality the main thing I am fighting is camper sway. This might be step 1 and see where it goes from there.
  10. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Yes the mirrors still work well with just a small amount of increased blind spot. I do not have blind spot detection on this truck but I am used to driving construction vans with no rear/side windows with massive blind spots... (Nissan NV2500 highroof)
  11. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Hey Phil, Good catch. Luckily the goal is not actually to "increase" the payload capacity rather improve handling and vehicle feedback at or close to GAWR. Don't worry, I'm under on GAWR and under on total payload with the camper fully loaded including myself and girlfriend. That's why we buy...
  12. Increased payload capacity for camper.

Hey guys, Looking to increase the payload capacity of my ranger AND add a leveling kit/improve ride quality. I am looking at kits like the Fox 2.0 from stage3 but these kits don't seem to pair well with springs that actually offer increased load capacity. I am regularly carrying my 2016 FWC...
  13. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Been lurking for a while finally joined. Greetings from Madison WI. I run a 2021 Ford Ranger STX with a FWC Fleet camper. Here to figure out my suspension upgrade to handle the additional camper weight. (approx. 1,000 lbs). Lots of reading already done on OME, Deaver, FOX, and ICON. Seems...
