Thanks for the info. I watched the install video at the beginning of this thread and on full volume I did hear a very similar noise. I think mine is a little uglier than the soft - and almost pleasant - sound other lift struts make. At least the ones I've heard before. But, hey, it does work.

I just got one from AutoAccessoriesGarage and it was a super-easy install. BUT .... the strut that comes with the kit makes a weird, gurgling type sound when the tailgate drops down to the opened position. Hmmmm. Anyone else notice that with their set-up?

I had an 2015 F-150 for several years. I loved that truck except for the LARGE size. After the warranty expired, I traded to a GMC Canyon, but couldn't stand several bad design flaws on it .... So, now, I have a 2020 XLT Ranger 4x4.. This truck is awesome. Really, just like a shrunk-down...
