Has anyone detached the tail lights yet? What’s the best way to disconnect the whole tail light?

I’m looking at blacking out my tail lights and side marker lights but going back and forth with which way to go. Spraying them with tint myself, will this damage the light, easy to take off? Actually tinting the lights, more costly? Or just replacing them altogether with different lights? Anyone...
