At first I used spray paint, looked good for a few months but quickly chipped away. I just ended up buying a new valence bar that’s already black. My skid plate is still spray painted and looks fine.

I did mine at 50,000 miles, pretty straight forward. Before my coolant temps would be 195-199 now it’s 185-193
