Sync 3 Maps Update

I too must have downloaded and extracted that file several different ways to get it to work

when I was on the phone with them I asked about a new sync rev coming out and it appears one is coming in September. My guess there’s changes to support the upcoming iOS 17 release. More fun in September

God I hope it fixes the bug they created that resets XM radio to station 0 or FM. That's annoying AF.

Just tried to update my map via free from Ford.
Followed instructions and downloaded all info including license to 16 ga scan disk.
Info on disk verified on two different computers, so I know it's there.
Truck does not recognize and nothing comes up on screen, and no error shows up.
Truck is on and auto stop/start is off.
Truck is updated to 3.4.
Help !!!!

Did you set up the USB on a PC or Mac? Can you provide screenshots of your USB file structure, both the root folder and the SyncMyRide folder?

Also, what is the full version number of your Sync3?

Wife found a post on a Ford F-150 site that said to just "wiggle" the scan disc in the port.
Tried it and that fixed it...downloading now.

Just did mine, did you format disk exfat and put the license file in the proper directory???

Wife did all that....she's the puter xpert.....pretty much all she does at work at the hospital.
Everything running normal now...disk just needed to be "wiggled" and the screen prompts came right up.
And for info, I don't use/haven't used either usb port at all since I bought the truck new....this is the first time either has been used.
Silly that on a 40 grand truck, you gotta "wiggle" something to make it work !!!

Yup thats great, I was a field engineer for DEC, COMPAQ, AND HP, then an IT guy for a local University before I retired 5 yrs ago. Fixing and using computers is my expertise, now I just play with my families gear.

I have SYNC 3.4.21194 and did ask about .22251 Two diff techs said, “No, .21194 is the correct current SYNC for your truck.”
I do find that confusing. Why would a MY23 XLT/FX4 not be using the latest SYNC version?
But the bigger question is still, why are needed files missing from in the map download in the first place causing the error?

Because 3.4.21194 is Ford's official latest current stable build; I went through this with IVT as well with my 2023. Version 3.4.2251 was released in January, but then had to be taken back off line again because it was causing serious problems "in some vehicles". I was just curious as to why my system never saw it release, and why my truck shipped with two year out-of-date maps. According to Ford, there will be a new version released "soon" (whenever "soon" may be) just as soon as they can fix all of the issues that .22251 caused "in some vehicles".

To 40 min to install and did notice a sync restart around 25 min. Everything went well.

On the 2.21 update it restarted 3 times for me. This one restarted once just like you, all is good!!

How long did the 2 22 update take to install in the truck for those that got it to install??

It took about 30 minutes to get to where I had to restart the truck and another 10 to 15 minutes after that to finish up.

Did you format the thumb drive to exFAT and drop the license into the folder?
