Ford Canada recently held a 2019 Ford Ranger media event where they put the 2019 Ford Ranger up against the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado in certain demonstrations.
One of the demonstrations was this one sided ramp climb to compare the torsional stiffness of the 2019 Ranger frame against the Tacoma. With one wheel elevated off the ground, one can see that the Ranger’s frame is indeed stiffer and stronger, showing less twist and flex between the bed and cab sections. The difference can be seen in the separation in the taped markings on the trucks.
Check out the demonstration videos inside as well as a reason for why the Ranger’s frame is stiffer and stronger (hint: it has to do with a fully boxed frame setup).
