Went to pick up some new front axle nuts from my local dealer for Eibach Coilover install. I saw this special order Raptor on the lot apparently waiting for its new owner. Check out the sticker and ADM!

I'll admit. I contacted a dealer this last week about a 39k car that I would swap for the Ranger.. maybe even with the terrible rates.

20k markup that they didn't show online... 40k car. The sales guy hung up on me when I couldn't stop laughing. I think he said goodbye. Wife, cat, 2 kids, and a dog thought I had lost my mind. I was being the asshole in that situation; not the sales guy even if he did straight up hang up. He didn't add that extra crap. I'll keep the 28k truck with sub 1% loan. Not going to come close to that for a while.. or ever again if I keep buying new.

Even with that car getting more mpg vs the Ranger. How many miles would it take to make up for the markup alone? Not to mention it being more expensive from the start.

The answer I got: using a comparison tool from Carmax.... 500,000 miles before I would break even on the cost of fuel vs that markup (based on 4 dollars a gallon and my real-world mixed driving 20 mpg (20mpg at worst - sometimes average 22; pure highway 26) vs an estimate from the other - 25mpg mixed)

Also, sort of neat comparison tool to see what the cost really is between two different MPGs

Just another example of ripping off customers. No wonder Ford's prez is pissed!

$20 large for packages totaling less than $600. Sort of sounds like eBay.

Stealerships are ridiculous. The base price is already kind of nuts. Adding 20k for no reason other than gouging the customer. Screw these guys.

That’s a bargain. The ADM is $5 bucks more on the east coast.

I paid less than that for the last TEN new Fords I purchased COMBINED!
(including tax, title, and license)

Of course, I have NEVER paid MSRP, let alone "dealer markup".

That thing will not go one single mile further than any single one of them.
(it IS really only transportation, Right??)

I thought Ford was cracking down on dealers pulling this BS?!?! I’ve read some studies that this not only damages dealers ability to retain these sales as a repeat customers, but also damages the brands too. No way would I pay a penny over MSRP and same goes for dealer add-ons. Was looking for used car for my 16 year old son and one dealer was actually adding dealer add-ons to used vehicles as well since demand is so out of wack. Crazy times!!!

This will never stop as long as there is greed and pride together with people with too much disposable income. And the reason some people have the last one is the first.

A dealer 5 minutes away had one with only a 15K mark up on it. Guess I should jump on it!!

Guess I'm driving my ranger until it dies. I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't have a big rebate on it.
