Just read a piece that says the new Ford Mustang Mach-E will no longer come with a charging cord????? Seems Ford wants to add $500 for the cord? Really??

Take the Mustang name away from it and call it the Ford Fizzle.....add a $15 buck extension cord from Lowes, and it will sell like fried chicken at a low cal, non fat, dinner for veggie eaters...

BMW (or maybe it was Mercedes) has already started moving to a system of charging a monthly subscription on things that would otherwise be standard. I don't recall what it was exactly, something like remote start or heated seats or something that was silly.

Toyota announced that also . They are all going to go to subscription based features once EVs start being mainstream. Once they lure all the sheeple into EVs with high HP/torque specs they will also start limiting power and speed etc to keep the people in line. If you're really trying to save the planet after all, no one needs all that extra HP just to get to work and pay taxes.

I wouldn't get my panties in a knot.
As its turning out for the vast majority of people, public charging stations are the only go to for charging options as Condo strata's wont allow charging on the properties. In my area, that's the bulk of residential living.
If I owned a Mach E, the cord would sit in my trunk un-used.

Electric vehicles only make sense if you can charge them at home overnight.

My wife bought one last week and that's exactly what we do. We have solar panels also and that further reduces cost. Petrol (gasoline) and diesel are outrageously expensive here considering the size of the country. ie about AUD $1.80 per liter or ~ $5.0 US per US gallon. The less money I put in oil producers pockets the happier I am.

Filling the "tank" up from a power point only costs ~ AUD $13.0 even on normal tariff, night rate is about half that, and daytime is free as long as the sun is out. To fill a similar sized car with petrol would be about $90.00 for only a bit more range. Oh yes and it came with a charging cord.

Mercedes is already doing that with their EVs.

For Only $1200 a Year You Can Add Performance.

I'm old.

I can remember way back when you could buy Office and just install it on your computer and own it forever.

Now I try to convince people to try Libre but I get the blank stare and "Where's Word?"

hence why you wont find me rushing to buy one, since i cannot charge at home at night.
maybe one day my work will take advantage of some government rebate and install one, or my strata will be forced to accommodate charging, but for now, its a big nah from me.
If either of those happen, probably still don't need a cord.

And an extra $60 a month to "unleash" an additional 60 HP on some Mercedes ....
