I decided to try one of the gang switch setups for my lights. It is rated for 600 watts, 12v. I run 9 lights currently. I want to run them all at one time safely without overheating or lower output of the lights etc. I currently have 4 rigid d pro pods 30 watts each, 1 rigid d xl pro flood pod 70 watts, and 4 amber fog/flood squares that claim to be 48 watts each (hella knock offs). That is around 400 watts. I could not find the amp draw for all of the lights but Rigid says 4.95 for the D xl, which is about the same as a pair of the normal D pods. So, I am estimating 5 amps per set for the 2 sets. The china brand amber squares do not have the amp draw stated any place I could find, so I am over estimating about 10 amps a set. Again over estimating instead of under that puts the amp draw around 40- 45. In the future I want to add a another set of Rigid pods. Do you guys think this gang box will handle what I want without issues or disappointing output?

Saw this and re-read your post - it changed the context completely - now I’m not sure you even posted anything truck-related.

Maybe @OFC Ranger or @Msfitoy would have the answer.

Oh, if you wire this up, you realize Jack has set the bar on how perfectly you need to run your wires. ?

It really depends an each channels amp output, I have a Trigger 4 with a 10in Rigid up front, rigid side mirrors with lights/turn signals, 22in Vision X up top and 2ea 4ft Rough Country whips it handles those just fine.

This is all wired to a 2016 Arctic Cat Wildcat X.

if i remember correctly the box has six 40 amp relays, but i dont think it would handle that much all at once. the wiring for the battery and ground dont look big enough to handle 240 amps.

Yeah I would use your best judgment on this the Trigger is rated at 80 amps total 2x 30amp 2x 10amp channels it has good sized power and ground.

I completely understand and how I rationalize that its a one time cost. I treat it like a bandaid rip it off and deal with it once.

If the price is out of range dont dig yourself in a hole.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
If the box is rated at 600 watts that's 50 amps total. If they divided that equally then just over 8A per channel max load, or 96 watts max. Don't know if I would max it our or not, if the box stated a 40 amp relay (or was that fuse?) then they are hedging their spec's. Divide your lights accordingly to stay within those limits... or get a bigger box. I only have a light bar, ditch lights, and backing lights so a smaller box w/remote has been working well for me.

i looks like 5 20 amp fuses and one 30 amp with 5 40 amp relays. one relay isnt marked. When the item shows up ill give it a look and see what it really has and gauge of wire etc. I should have got a better model but I got drawn in by the seller going for my cheap skate offer lol.

Relays are rated for twice their load to prevent arching, and fuses 10% above working load, but still, that would be 100Amps!!!! (can you say overkill!) twice the 600 watts stated. I hope they give you a spec sheet, but in any case it should handle your lights no problem. Be interesting to see what gauge the B+ wire is.
