Good it will push everyone else to go fully electric and then we will all have to figure out where to get plug in power!

I guess they will have to carry a 7KW genset in the bed to charge from :) The Rivian has over 300 miles road range, in that terrain more like 100 miles.

In the comments for that video there is a link to the Bronco Sport doing the same obstacle, and it made it effortlessly.

Apples and oranges, Sport doesn't weigh 7K pounds, and has a much shorter wheelbase.

Oh most definitely apples vs oranges.

Just pointing out that the Bronco Sport, which is arguably less capable, was also able to make it on the stock Badlands setup.

Yep, not a bad rig, I had one on order early until I found out Ford didn't make it towable, then I switched to the Bronco, and waited......and waited.....and still waiting. So I got tired of waiting and got a Ranger.

That truck is beast and it looks futuristic without resembling geometry homework. Really cool, price is way out of my range, but I respect it as a technological achievement.

Why does it sound like jet engine? Air cooled, batteries near toasting temperature and fan running like a turbine?

Pay attention to the tires, they were spinning and whining pretty bad, smoking a bit also.

Highway miles or extreme cold are the hardest on electric vehicles in terms of range. They do better going slow. Obviously this example is hard use, but I bet it does over 100 miles offroad easy.

And makes it up un-modified.

Several of my Engineers and Peers are at Rivian...They know what Ford Tough means and have carried this to Rivian...Ford bought in and then bailed for some reason of which I am not aware why the decision.... Anyway....JMO...the nose of the vehicle and the Chevy are just flat UGLY...

best,
Phil

The advantage of electric is no differential hanging down in the way. The Rivian ground clearance is 14.9". Stock Rubicon ground clearance is around 10".

I'd also bet this gets greater than 300 miles offroading since you're not really using much energy when crawling. Someone recently hyper-miled an electric vehicle and doubled the range but only drove at 25mph the whole way. And while you are using energy going up, you gain the energy going back down with regen breaking.

Doesn’t surprise me. I feel like any AWD/4WD with average SUV/truck clearance can make it up. Especially with an experienced driver and experienced spotter. Just going to leave this here. Question is, are you willing to risk the potential damage?
