Wow, surprised I've never heard of the Canada car buying trick before.. Sounds like it's fairly common loophole to save money, although a headache to deal with all of the paperwork, let alone financing:

Other details:
https://slickdeals.net/f/8171830-25...ar-purchase-buy-in-canada-bring-to-us?page=25

It's crazy that a truck built in the USA is sold for thousands more here than in a neighboring country. The lariat ranger I want is around $44k USD MSRP in the US, but only $36k USD in Canada. Even after X-Plan or Invoice pricing it's about $5,000 difference.
Yes crazy, this is why I pointed it out. I am Canadian, live in Canada and my truck will stay in Canada. But, my 07 avalanche is heading south to the States as we speak. And also if you are buying in Alberta, you also have no provincial tax, which is 7% here in B. C.

My relatives used to buy a lot of farm equipment from up there and then bring down. The same concept of saving money.

Just ordered a Lariat Super Crew, platinum white paint, 501A, tow package, FX4.
MSRP - $43,940
Dealer Price - $42,197
Rebate - $500
Additional discount to beat another dealer - $700
Paying $40,997 plus $90 doc fee plus tax/title/license (almost $3k off of MSRP.)
They are giving me $36,000 for my '17 Tacoma TRD Pro on trade, so I will get the tax benefit of the trade as well. I'm basically trading up into a brand new loaded Ranger for $5000 to boot.

Forgot to mention I need to also ask about the Farm Bureau discount. I have nothing to do with farming except for my insurance company requires me to pay the $55/yr membership to be their customer. It is completely worth it because their rates are stellar.

I gotta start working on the Mrs. so I can get out this expensive state.
I lived in San Diego for 18 years and left due to the political swing in 1992

Xnavy here, I was a postal clerk. I was never stationed in SD. My recruiter told me to stay clear of large bases.
I was stationed at the Sub Base in San Diego (on the SSN 594 Permit) . The Sub base was very small. Ballast Point at the end of Point Loma. I moved back to San Diego after discharge and stayed for 18 years before I saw the writing on the wall in California after Pete Wilson left as Governor.

California is a dumpster fire. We’re tied down here or we’d move yesterday. Maybe one day, right. Lol

2019 ranger XL with 101A, trailer tow, and carpet (OK,OK I know, I'm a city guy)
The total was $26,480.
Add tax (6.25%) title, license, etc brought to total to $28,548
Then I got the $500 general rebate and the $500 military rebate.
So my total cost was $27,548

It drives like my Taurus, not like my old F-150.

61 miles on it so far.

Hey now! New to the site and new owner-just took delivery this morning:
Lariat 2wd with 501a, tow, appearance.
MSRP-$39660. Invoice was $38080.
I paid $34,100. Dealer discount was $4000 and I got $1500 conquest cash. I went in all set to go FX4 on a silver Lariat at $36000. But it didn't have 501(no B&O which is awesome) and no hitch(WTF! - what truck, let alone a 4WD doesn't have a hitch!?) And then I realized I live in suburbia with virtually no bad weather to speak of and the only off pavement driving I really do is on fire roads to trailheads so I saved myself $4k and went instead with the bumpin' stereo and a hitch which I will actually use and enjoy.
Oh- also got 1.9 financing for 60 months. Dealer tried to sell me a "discounted" ESP for $1975(7 yrs/75000 with $100 deductible) when I was there last night which I politely declined. I went to pick up the truck this morning with my down payment check and the finance guy "miraculously" had discovered he had 4 $1000 ESP discount certificates which would make it only $975. I told him if he could do it with a $0 deductible I'd bite. He did. So for about $16 more per month I now have a 7/75 bumper to bumper which also includes headlight and up to 1 key fob per year coverage if I should happen to lose one.
Next step is a 2 inch front level kit - was quoted $450 to incl install and alignment- next week!
Glad to be here and really appreciate all the great info and ideas from other owners.

That post is worthless without pictures LOL

LOL I sure would love to see that purchase contract. I know Ford discounts bigly but they have no incentive to sell a $40K truck for $34k PLUS 1.9% and a cheaper ESC than even Flood Ford offers??
Everyone who has your truck is taking a $10,000 beating at this point if people can get $40K trucks for $34K. A used trade would have to be at least $4K less then the best deal new.

Post the contract minus personal Info so some more Ranger buyers can get that kind of deal. Who is financing trucks today at 1.9% Is Ford really not selling enough of these trucks? HAs to be so or your dealer needed one more truck to get a huge payoff from Ford...

I think your dealer is having a going out of business sale.

Oh and.........
