Finally got to my bedlights, used the NiLight strips cut down to 47” and used the under bed power supply hard wired. I decided to stick them to aluminum “U” profile, only needed an 8ft section which set me back $10. The profile fit perfect over the edge of my BedRug and gave the lights a nice solid base. Then I used good 3M tape to adhere them to the bed sides.
Here’s a few pics of the installation.

Pretty happy with the outcome.

Very interesting install. I did not realize you could cut those LED strips like that. I just wrapped the extra on mine around the head of the bed, kind of behind the bedrug. When I installed mine I used the 3M tape to adhere the LEDs to the underside of the bed cap. I will be curious to see how yours holds up, or if the weight of the lights makes the bedrug sag down.

Your install looks very professional. I've been extremely happy with mine. Used them just last night in fact!

The light strips have little scissors on them where they can be cut. I cut the cases and strips to the length of the aluminum profile and then reached up inside with hemostats and pulled them down a bit and cut them close to the scissor marks.
The aluminum profile is so light and it’s actually adhered to the bedside, the BedRug is just tucked into the channel.
The upper Velcro holds the BedRug in place. I think I will not have any issues.

Even better - that makes more sense now - very nice, clean installation! I think you will be happy with it.

Installed my bed lighting today. Bright white LED lights, 3 strips down each side plus 2 behind cab under the Retrax cover. Wired to a small black Rocker switch on drivers side tailgate pillar, hooked to box ignition power. Wires all loomed and up under the cover side rails. Took me an hour- think it turned out great. Definitely bright !

Hope you like it as much as I like mine...Dont really have any water leakage to speak of, from driving in rain, or car washes, tho it's in the garage overnight. Only once so far I removed it to use the full bed...

Well, not today, but over the weekend.
Adding Weight To the Bed.... Safely.

Nearly wrecked the truck a week ago on some black ice near Cripple Creek. Twisty mountain road, heading down hill grade and the road transitioned from sunshine to shade around a left hand curve and the rear end broke loose on black ice and headed for the ditch. I was able to quickly steer right and bring it back in line but it was a pucker factor of about 10.

I've driven manual shift vehicles since 1985. While I like the Ranger... I truly hate not being able to let off the accelerator and have instant motor braking. Truck was in 2 wheel drive. Roads were dry and clear up until that point. 40 mph zone, I was driving 35mph.

So I reflected back to the old days when I drove automatic transmission vehicles and decided to add some ballast to the truck.

I installed the rear divider I previously built for The Lumber Rack. Then bought (4) 60 lb bags of Quikrete Tube Sand. The problem is these bags freeze and get hard as a rock. Then when you hit the brakes they like to move around. I'm also concerned that under heavy braking or, heaven forbid, a head on collision that these bags will end up being projected over the divider and through the back window.

So I attached a piece of 3/4" plywood by screwing it to the rear divider with (4) countersunk screws, and then added a bungee chord across the plywood, attached to the rear bed tie downs.

Do you find a big difference with the weight in the back?
