Just sold my 2008 (original owner) Fusion today :crying: Bittersweet day, but looking forward to new adventures and parking the Ranger in the garage now!

I had a family owned since new 97 Long Bed Ranger XLT with 3.0V6. My Uncle bought it new and he passed away in 2000, my Dad got it, then my brother, then me at 29K miles.
I did a lot of functional mods that suited me best and drove it till yesterday when I sold it with 162K miles.

I placed an ad on CL Tuesday, had three calls and on Wednesday the first caller bought it. $3250 cash. The fellow was 84 yrs old and needed a truck to replace a Mazda truck that his grandson destroyed. He said he probably wouldn't put 1000 miles a year on it.

Tuesday morning I was also searching the Net and found my new truck, I inquired about it by text. I setup an appt. and went to test drive this truck that morning but we didn't talk numbers. That afternoon I texted the salesman and requested an OTD price. We swapped texts and at the end of day I left him with an offer, he said he'd let me know. The next day I was expecting a call or text in the morning, nothing.

The buyer of my 97 bought my truck around 3pm. It must have been 10 minutes after he left the internet sales manager sent me an email and requested why I didn't buy. I replied that we couldn't agree on the numbers and I haven't heard back from the salesman. 30 minutes later she called with a counter offer that was within $250 of my offer.

I went to get my new truck and the salesman acted as if everything is cool, I was actually pissed that he didn't respond back that morning but what the heck, I'll play their game.

Anyway I am very happy with the deal and ecstatic over truck. It is so nice, rides great, quite with plenty of pep.
Super happy.

I'll start, I currently drive a 2006 Ford Ranger XL 3.0L V6. It's slow, gets terrible gas mileage and only seats 2 people.

My wonderful 2004 XLT 4X4 extended cab. Only 86k on the clock. Love it but wanted 4 doors so have been waiting for this release.

I had a 2005 that had 82k on it that I sold to buy this one. I bought it new - it was a great truck. the only real problem I had with it was the harmonic balancer came apart at 50-60k miles - the rubber that separates the inner and outer sections just disintegrated. Apparently it was a relatively common issue on those engines.

Anyone else have that problem? This was the 4.0l v6.

I'm very happy with my new truck!

I was on the Hamilton, SSBN617 too in 1977 Hated SSBN duty, Especially out of New London and Scotland. Bored as hell for 70 days underwater.
Preferred the Fast attack I was on SSN 594. More ports better duty
I was a Sonar Tech STS2 when I got out,

I could not handle the sea sickness on a surface vessel. That's one of many reasons why I went for Submarine duty.

2003 VW Jetta 1.8T getting a bit long in the tooth and showing signs of it's age. Will be nice to drive something new that I know (hope) should not be getting a random CEL's on a semi frequent basis for a long time :). Tired of routinely replacing coil packs, O2 sensors and other stuff on this thing :headbang: .

My wife and I had his-and-hers Escapes. Long story, it was one of those deals where I didn't really pick the car, it picked me. Nice car but I never planned on having it a long time. I sold the Escape privately a couple of weeks ago.

Now I'm down to driving my old F-150 which I have had since I was 16. My dad bought it new. I'm going to let it go after I get the Ranger because I'm tired of it being in the way in my shop. It's been a good run but time to say goodbye. I'm hoping the Ranger fits better in the garage

1999 Ranger XLT. Picked it up 6 or 7 years ago for $3500, immediately put another $2000 into it (mostly tires and suspension), hasn't needed anything since. But, it's old, slow, has a lot of miles, likes gas more than I like whiskey, and the trans is finally starting to slip. It was time for an upgrade!

I put around 160k miles on a 1990 Supercab with the 4.0L and never had that issue. Only issues I had is with the valve covers leaking, A/C lines leaking and the rear ABS module failing.

We had a 2004 Explorer that we put almost 150k on and it had essentially the same motor and it never happened to that one. We did have to replace the transmission about 92k however. That was kind of expensive.

Never had any other issues (other than maintenance stuff) on my old Ranger. It was a good truck.

Had a couple of OHC 4.0 motors in the family fleet and never had that problem.
I've seen it plenty in the 5.0 Windsor motor though.

I just replaced my 2014 Focus ST with the Ranger. I drove the car like I stole it and after 80,000 miles was time to move on. I had a 1998 Ranger extended cab 4 banger, stick shift I bought new and when the new Ranger came out I knew I wanted one.

Off the line the Ranger feels faster. In the corners not so much. I did have to learn to slow down when entering off ramps as I was used to the handling of the Focus.
