This is what i use on my truck. I tow a comparable trailer and tow where the ball is now. On a single axle trailer i tow i have to put the ball at the lowest point. Only once have i used the rise and that was for a tractor rental trailer from home depot. Tounge sat pretty high. Ignore the 10" drop. It is 8. I cut it due to 10" dragging all the time. I store it behind the seat.

GEN-Y.

I dont think they make the rebel anymore, just gave it a new name really. But it has been an awesome hitch super durable, super strong.

Thank you, I was looking around on Etrailer, and I was actually considering GEN-Y, its funny you mention that. Glad to hear you have positive things to say. I like on the GEN-Y’s that you are not necessarily relying on the pins to hold all the tongue weight if that makes sense. You have a sleeve that shares the strength to support the tongue weight. Etrailer has a 6” drop, 7k and I feel is reasonably priced as well.

Nice looking jet boat, 22 or 25 feet? I've been looking at the Scarab 255 open with their twin 300hp pumps.
22' Sport-E so it has most of the stuff you'd want to add from the factory (except trolling motor). Twin 180HP Jets. Maxed out the budget, so there was no consideration of 25'!

~3500mi road trip to Canada

Final trip stats. I was really hoping I'd hit 3,500/40,000 when I rolled into my driveway, but I had to settle for just one.

Whereabouts in Canada did you go?

Converting our lawn to rock, more appropriate in our desert climate. First heavy hauling with the ranger, several trips worth.

Had a yard of mulch in the bed here, (1000-1200lbs) and 2000lbs of flagstone in the trailer.

Picked up two yards gravel in the orange home depot trailer, was definitely overloaded. The surge brakes on the trailer didn't work for the first stop (must have been stuck or something) and that load pushed me a good 30ft down the road. Took it nice and easy after that. The trailer didn't handle well and I was uncomfortable going much over 55mph. The ranger had plenty of power but handling was an issue, most likely not enough tongue weight, even with the mulch also in the bed.

Rented a much cheaper, higher quality trailer day two. Rented a mini skid steer to remove a bunch of dirt and take it to the dump. Three loads worth!! Had to dig the lawn down a few inches to make room for the gravel.

At the SLC dump. Insane operation. Was very worried about my tires driving on the trash mountain.

Finished project for now! The other half of the lawn has plastic now to kill the grass, then we dig, then we get more gravel! Going to plant some low water plants in the lawn section, add irrigation to the beds and grow some veggies.

Three loads of dirt went to the dump over the scales, about 4000lbs each. Trailer was about 3k, so was pretty much maxing the ranger out. The iron bull trailer pulled much better, especially since we were able to get an appropriate amount of tongue weight. Could cruise 65mph no problem, didn't take it up past 70 because there was no point on the 15min ride to the dump. Truck performed admirably. Very fun showing up at the rock yard amongst all the one tons with the little ranger. Definitely turned some heads but staying within the limits (or just over) wasn't too hard and the truck did great.

This all happened in July ?. Been super busy all summer, no time for the 5G forum!

OK so closed the deal on the sale of my toyhauler, this morning in Grants Pass Oregon. I met him halfway since he had to take it back to North California hills and I have family there so got to visit yesterday. He is using an older Range Rover and the adapter hitches were putting the ball too far back and putting a hell of a tongue load. He found a better fit at Harbor freight and will take it to Redding and get his hitch sorted out better. The Ranger towed it fine, as usual. Now I wait for the arrival of my Airlifts and Ford 150 rail brackets kit to fabricate a Ranger 5th wheel rail mount for my next project. I will keep you apprised. Either I'm victorious or despondent. Fingers crossed and drill, grinder and spacers at the ready.

Well this is not looking so good. I think I could cut, grind and drill the passenger side bracket to work, but the driver side frame is pretty dang busy with lines, gas tank and emission stuff. Very crowded in there and with just under 20k on the rig not wanting to risk voiding any warranties. I'll still mount the Airlift 5000 kit to help tame the heavier trailer I may end up with but not seeing a graceful mod to get a decent 5th wheel rail kit mounted. That's too bad as I think this can handle the Nash 21-5r and the better Arctic fox 21-5r just fine, just need to pay attention to loading and weights. I had planned to get to the scales and obtain honest numbers, once I had the rail kit sorted. I may rent a couple different trailers for now to see what we like. Not sure I'll pop for an Escape, (not a fan of wet baths,) or a Bigfoot, but who knows? I'll probably look for a decent used Arctic Fox trailer if I can find one under 7500 GVR. Someone tell me you have a good answer for a decent 5th wheel mount! E-trailer won't touch it.

16' Travel Trailer. Maiden voyage with the Ranger (previous vehicle '16 Ram). Towed the camper very well. The only thing the Ram did better was stability because larger wheelbase and wider track. Other than that, the Ranger did very well! Averaged about 16.5 there and back. Cruise set at 55 or 60 mph, back roads. I am going to get a different ball mount with more of a drop so the trailer is more level.
