What are you guys towing?

go for the high test fuel. it helps. tire pressure watch your max but 38-40 will help too. For me I drive a lot of twisty roads and only a couple of interstate trips so I rarely get to go above 60mph so my numbers are better than yours.

Also last summer towed my heavier camper, wife and two kids across the Kancamagus Highway, NH. switch backs, 8% grades dozens of run off pits if needed.

I turned the brake controller up a little higher and had no problems keeping up (and slowing down) with traffic. wish the same could be said about the kids. (one got car sick)

My son has been looking for a Mark 5 VW Golf R32 for several months. He finally found one for sale outside of Portland (about a 7 hour drive). We drove up yesterday to check it out and... well, you can figure out the rest.

The Ranger is really impressing me with how well it is towing this thing home. Let's hope my son impresses me just as much as he works through all the issues this car has... he was looking specifically for a project car - and he found it! The first thing he plans to do it pull the engine out and fix the busted timing chain guides / re-do all the timing components, as well as whatever else makes sense to address while the engine is out.

My garage is no longer mine. It's going to be all his for the next few months.

Couple of trailers this past week.

Rented a 6x12 uhaul trailer, helped my buddy pick up a pallet of pavers for him. That poor rear axle.

After that, went straight from there to 400km away (250 miles) to help another friend pick up his new toy.

Returned that trailer and 3 days later, loaded up my trailer with freshly cut wood to bring to the hunting camp. Talk about a weird trip, bringing wood in the wood

My dad had to cut some tree on his property after a big storm and might as well use it. Snow just finish melting and it was a ton of muddy fun to bring it.

After emptying the wood, loaded up the old boat to bring to the dump.

So far, I've only towed my boat and a utility trailer, but will be towing a disaster relief trailer full of chainsaws and such, as well as a cargo trailer with supplies.

We purchase this camper (used, just a retail PIC seen here) yesterday and towed it 100 + mlies home. Dry weight is like 2800lbs.

Towed a rented Airstream Bambi 22 foot from Allentown Pennsylvania to Ohiopyle for a week of biking the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail. My wife and I bike about 30 miles a day going out and back from an access point on the rail trail. Did 130 miles in 5 days, stayed at the Yough Lake campground for a quiet time to chill. Kept the tires at 32 lbs cold. My 2022 Ranger lariat averaged 15 miles to the gallon using 93 octane, going up and down the steep grades of the part of the Appalachians wear Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia all meet. Lots of ups and lots of downs that were steep. Truck was able to keep it to 65 and in the flats cruised at 70.

Curious....don't see a weight distribution hitch...just a shank and ball. Specs show a 430 tongue weight, and with the stuff you carried might be close to 500 lbs.....didn't the rental company require one ???

Rented through Outdoorsy which connected me to a family who own it. The service puts people together so no corporate requirements. My specs show my vehicle can tow 7500 pounds so no concerns. The towing was super easy compared to my old camper. That one was wiggly even WITH a proper weight distribution hitch and only came in at 3400 pounds at 18 feet long. Did about 250 miles each way in hilly country last summer and similar last week.
