Well they were technically talking about the 4th gen Ranger. Plus according to Sid @Msfitoy we're all doomed at the dreaded 95K mark. ?

The Ford Ranger is another monster that can easily reach the 500,000 miles mark. Dennis Childress is a 1998 Ranger 4X4 owner who surpassed the coveted mark in 2016 and his truck “never needed anything other than normal maintenance.”
“It has been the most trouble-free vehicle that I have ever owned! It still has its original engine and transmission, and I have never even had the valve covers removed,” says Dennis Childress.

Looks like I need to extend the duration of my maintenance tracking sheet!

If a 4G can do it then for damn sure the 5G Tremor can too!!!!!!! (Had to edit. Initially said "6G")

Goals.

IIRC they said the blue ones only made it to 15K before falling apart.

Got to say, that video brought back memories of my Frontier NISMO. Same color too.

My buddy has a '94 Ranger 3.0/stick/4x4 and he hit 500k last year. He did put a Jasper engine in it at 350k but it still looks good. The ignition switch is so worn that it will start with any key on his key ring.

My old Sport Trac had 212k on it when it blew a head gasket. I'd already put a lot of money into it the previous two years and wasn't up for dropping $5k on a reman engine. It was fairly reliable until the end with only a rebuilt trans at 132k. Looked like new in, out, and under though.

Jon's tips:
1. Get it rustproofed unless you live in the south. And if you live near the coast get it rustproofed even if you're in the south.
2. Keep it clean.
3. Change all the fluids regularly, and I mean ALL the fluids.

i'd choose a death sentence over having to drive a Ridgeline 500k miles. They do ride nice on the highway .

I'd rather clean a septic tank with a straw than have to own an Accord with an open trunk. What manufacturer doesn't put a lid on a car's trunk?! Just stupid.

For the record, I am not a fan of that Honda thing with the open ass end. Just wrong.

It took me a minute to parse that and form a mental picture. That's the most descriptive alternative I've ever heard! I can't wait to use it in conversation ?

Well, I had a 2000 Ranger 2wd, 3.0 5 speed that went 280,000 on original engine, tranny and rear end. It was in remarkably good shape when I sold it after getting Blue Dream.
The most unbelievable thing about that truck is that it never leaked a drop of anything. Ever. First vehicle I've owned than never leaked. Sure, the new one is nearly infinitely better than the old one but the old one was dependable and got me where I needed to go almost without fail.
The only major repairs were two water pumps and a clutch overhaul at 195,000 miles. Those trucks can take a beating. Something tells me the new ones will not endure like the old ones. Too many electronics and the tranny is a concern over the long term. But we will see...
