Could be a good thing to do if you’re like me and you don’t like seeing that oil light be on for a few seconds when you start your truck for the first time after you change the oil.

That's what it sounds like. Kinda like disconnecting the coil wire and cranking it over....much slower RPM's too.

Interesting. "Flood mode" is the same procedure used for a carbureted vehicle. I guess it must inhibit the ignition, though. Do Fuel Injected vehicles ever actually flood?

It’s a throwback term it sounds like yes. It actually stops the injectors from firing while your foot is all the way down on the gas pedal. It allows the oil pump to circulate the oil up into the critical top of the engine before it actually starts as I understand it.

Surely circulating the oil prior to start is not the intended purpose of flood mode. Ford must have had another purpose for this unless it's just a remnant from carbureted vehicles? I know my fuel injected RX-8 could be flooded but that's a completely different engine type.

I don't trust anyone with Elf ears.

I'm sorry, was that wrong?

Seriously though, I guess if this is something you're worried about, then do it. I am not worried.

Hey fellas not trying to talk anyone into anything, just passing along something I didn’t previously know about.

Yes it’s a frivolous worry I’m sure, like many other worries, but an engine running short of oil on the top-end (even for a few seconds) could cause wear over time. This is a thing that prevents that. Other reasons he talks about in the video too.

If someone is too distracted by the ear lobes of a YouTubeer to extract any useful info from video that’s ok too.

A solution looking for a problem.
My thoughts too...I've never seen the oil light come on after an oil change...nor do I worry about starting my MINI normally after it sits for 5 months...

I tried this in my Lariat (keyless) and it worked fine. My truck had been sitting for 5 days, went out, put my foot on the brake and pushed the gas to the floor, pushed the button, let it turn over for 4-5 seconds, took my foot off the gas, and it fired right up :like:
