Ford announces Canadian pricing for 2019 Ranger
Prices start at almost $33K, but four doors and four-wheel drive are standard in Canada
San Diego, California — Ford has released Canadian pricing and specs on the forthcoming 2019 Ranger midsize pickup. The truck, based on the global Ranger model but modified for North America with its own unique, fully boxed frame, starts at $30,969 for an XL 4×4 Supercab.
Unlike the U.S., Canada only gets 4Ă—4 versions, either in Supercab or Supercrew with full four doors and larger rear seat. The truck arrives in three trims, XL, XLT and Lariat. Supercabs get a six-foot box, and Supercrews a five-footer. The XL is Supercab only, the XLT Supercab or Supercrew, and the Lariat Supercrew only. There is no option for six-foot box on Supercrew models, only the five footer, since that would require a longer wheelbase, and Ford says demand for that configuration is small.
An XL SuperCab 4Ă—4 starts at $30,969; XLT SuperCab 4Ă—4 is $35,539; XLT SuperCrew 4Ă—4 is $37,339 and Lariat SuperCrew 4Ă—4 will cost $42,289. Add another $1,400 for the off-road FX4 package and $1,800 for destination and delivery.
Keeping it simple, the 2019 Ranger gets one engine and one transmission — the same 10-speed automatic found in the F-150. The engine, a 270 horsepower, 2.3-litre inline turbocharged four cylinder, produces 310 lb.-ft. of torque — more than the V6 engines in the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado (265 and 275 lb.-ft. respectively). The Ranger is rated to tow 7,500 pounds (all versions) and carry 1,650 lb. on 4×4 Supercab models. Fuel economy is estimated at 14L/100 km city, 12 highway.
