Did my seatbelt test today and I was floored by the last test in this video. Apparently Ford sold trucks with silly putty for seatbelt anchors. Hope everyone checks their seatbelts.

Edit: Apparently the issue was the seatbelt is supposed to be routed through that metal O-ring there. But instead some just got routed around it so the only thing holding the seatbelt on was the rubber or plastic cover. Yikes.

Wow, that's a real problem with build quality. While I love my 21 LXT 4x4 it must have been built on a Monday, Friday or after a long weekend. The tailgate and hood were not aligned. Tailgate had about 0.25 in (1CM) of play and a gigantic gap on the left side. The dash had a screw rolling around behind the screen and with every turn it rattled. Dealer fixed all three problems but still ...
At least my problems are not life threatening like the seatbelt issue.

Kind of why I'll never be a ford loyalist.

A multi-billion dollar corporation needs to be held at the most highest of standards, especially when lives are at stake.

And I refuse to listen to any ford fanboy saying "shit happens" or similar. These companies deserve no excuses in these matters.

As someone who worked in QC I've seen how any company can change on a dime. New management comes in and needs to make an impact, usually in the form of streamlining processes to be more efficient, faster, cheaper. Which means cutting back on QC most of the time.

Gentlemen: I suspect these seatbelt assemblies were a contracted item, and not made directly by Ford. Yes, they should have known. But when the problem arose, they did issue a TSB.

I further suspect, Ford is not the only one caught with this issue. This reminds me of the suicide airbag fiasco, which affected all of the auto makers.

In any case, we need to remember, the majority of today's transportation parts come from subcontractors. The days of Henry Ford (et. al.) making everything, is well past us.

Note that this apparently only affects the Supercab versions, not the Supercrew versions.

I still might take a look at mine though, just to placate my OCD tendencies.

When I got mine brand new it had to go to a body shop for warranty paint right out the gate. The worse was the interior passenger door looked like it only got half a coat of paint on most of it. You could still see the blue primer bleeding through.

I get it that paint is done by robots now a days, but QC should have caught that instantly. I didn't because I didn't know any better, who goes inspecting interior door paint on a brand new car? Well I will in the future I guess.

just had both supercab recalls done. mechanic said he has not seen a failed seatbelt, but bonus is I now have the 2019 headrests in back that fold. They kept my original non folding ones.

If that's the typical result, I suspect many more will soon be needing the recall ?

I'm pretty sure quality is suffering for many brands at the moment.
People that frequent such places as Las Vegas casinos and Disney parks tell me that attractions are looking very run down these days.
Lack of $ to do upkeep or lack of willing workers and shortages.
It's everybody and will really get bad if there is a rail strike.
