Not assuming, your truck has crown vic steelies, dead give-away! My truck is sporting a warmed over 360 and the original three speed top loader. The engine and trans are hulking iron pieces. The nine inch rear is no light weight either. Did you swap in the crown vic rear or, replace the axles in the nine inch? Either way your truck is still going to be heavy with that Big Block FE out front!
A UHual car hauler has deck width of of almost 80 inches. It'll fit just fine.
They base it off of this. I had the same conversation with ron hoover, a travel trailer dealer, when looking at travel trailers. When properly equipped, the ranger can do 7500.

Incorrect. If that's the case they wouldn't have allowed me to tow a '95 YJ on one.

It's the 80% clause that's holding him up, guaranteed.

It's like some people don't even read a thread before commenting.

I just towed my ā€˜90 Bronco with my Ranger. I had to fib to U-Haul and said it was a Bronco II. Iā€™m guessing either because my ranger didnā€™t weigh 80% of the towed weight (which was like 6600 pounds), or because the Bronco was damn near too wide for the trailer. But I got it hoisted up there with a Harbor Freight come-along, and the Ranger towed it well. I have a Draw-Tite receiver with a 7500 pound ball mount and ball.

That is only if you are using the bumper to tow. If you use the receiver, the limit is 7500.

I tried to tell em. Even showed them the owners manual. 4 cyl can not tow that much is what i was told. V6 maybe. Well i guess i wont buy a tt from ron hoover. And they showed me the sheet you had there as well. Properly equipped the ranger is a beast. But......i guess they are not familiar with the new Ranger

This.

It's not like they follow you after you pick up the trailer to see what you're putting on it.

However, lying on the paperwork could make one liable if things go south.

Also, OP, perhaps they denied you because of this.

Google says a '72 F-100 comes in @ 4450 lbs. Which means tow vehicle must weigh 5328 lbs to meet their standard. The heaviest Rangers are about 4500 lbs according to google.

I think this is the problem. I didnā€™t realize how light the Rangers are. I may need to come up with another solution i.e tow it 2 down.
That's crazy. An F-150 that can be rated to tow 14,000 lbs isn't even 5328 lbs, they are only about 200-300 lbs more than a Ranger. I have towed around 6,000 lbs TT with my Ranger with ease. BUT, that is with a properly set up weight distribution hitch.

For sure.

I can't blame Uhual for covering their ass though.

I was trying to reserve U-Haulā€™s auto transport to tow my ā€˜72 F-100 which should have a GVWR between 4500 and 5500 lbs. (itā€™s a bit modified so Iā€™m not really sure what it weighs currently.) The trailer empty is 2210 lbs. Their system wouldnā€™t let me. Iā€™m assuming theyā€™re cautioning on the high side of the towed vehicle of potentially 7700 lbs. What says the hive? Would this be a horrible idea for 600 miles? 2021 SCrew 4x4 with factory tow package.
I towed a 24 foot enclosed trailer with a 4 foot v nose empty the trailer is 4200 lbs the truck towed it fine power but it didn't feel solid .so I don't think I would tow a full size truck on a uhal trailer with it
