One last detail for folks who like the numbers.

57690BAF-B065-4F71-9FA4-5AFD1E77E9DE.jpeg

4,049 kms
12.3 litres per 100 kms

2,515 miles
19.1 mpg

Considering the way my truck is set up (canopy, roof rack, hard cases on the rack, levelled, bigger A/T tires, wide fender flares) and being loaded up with a lot of tools, I’m fine with those numbers.
?
Thanks for the map. Supposedly my dad was born in a town now under the St Lawrence seaway but grew up in Toronto.

Have you thought about tamperproof exterior door hinges? I'm sure they won't come back again, but others might.

Frank
I did but that little vertical shed is pretty flimsy and you can twist and torque it with ease - I could likely pull the vertical centre brace or an end panel clean off with just a pry bar and a well-placed kick.

I’ve simply re-inforced all the interior anchor points for the hinges and hasp as well as replaced the screws with larger, longer screws than it was built with. It won’t be so easy for the next guy and there won’t be anything valuable in there any more. Ahhh, city life - nothing like it. ;)

A big area was flooded when it was created in 1958. A lot of folks were relocated.

A tip for folks travelling by car through Quebec…

They have excellent rest areas with picnic tables and restrooms with easy highway access. They were super clean and well kept with lots of trash cans and plenty of parking, even for trailers, fifth wheels, motor homes and big rigs. A perfect place to stretch your legs and have lunch. There appeared to be concession stands around the back side of the restrooms that were boarded up - not sure if they’re seasonal or simply no longer operating. Maybe @CB750F knows more about them?

These are terrible photos but I thought it was worth posting because they really are nice spots.

All I know is they are starting to tear them down & put up newer one's that look like your OnRoute. Some are in real bad shape.
Not sure why u saw many Jeep things & no Rangers. I see Rangers all the time when I go out & I WFH.
They should have called it this, have not seen any for a long time.

I just got around to one last chore since my trip down east. The day before I headed back home, I took my truck to the local hand wand car wash. I managed to snap my plastic factory license plate holder clean off my truck with the hose. I did this years ago to the bug deflector on my ‘01 Ranger, so clearly, I need further training.

There was no time to buy a new one and I knew I could make some makeshift brackets to get me home, but with what? I had most of my tools with me but the shed at the cottage has a limited amount of “stuff” for creative McGyvering. Anyway, when your options are limited, and it’s getting dark, you do what you can with what you have.

It wasn’t pretty but it would work. Besides, it only had to hold up for 16 hours. @AzScorpion will be familiar with that quality bracket on the left. The one on the right is leftover aluminum fascia folded and hammered several times then hacked down to size with sheet metal shears. It was still in place when I got home. ?

I bought an aftermarket plate bracket last week and after some inspiration from @RedDakooter05 , I installed it properly today. Months before this mishap, I had flipped my plate bracket so the plate would sit lower and protect the lower opening in the bumper a bit (no ACC). The new bracket allows for a few different plate heights but I settled on one a bit higher than my flipped plate but still lower than the factory position - same height as I saw on Jake’s truck. All is right with my world now. ?
