So I get to stay home for a bit. I decided to put a trickle charger on the truck. Especially since the auto start stop never engaged due to ”vehicle charging.” Now, I’m not very handy but I think this turned out ok. Definitely needs a couple more inches on the battery wires.
1 issue of frustration. That Battery is the hardest Battery I’ve ever had to remove. They have so many connectors on it it just does not want to cooperate. Got it out but damn.
oh yeah, I also have to reprogram the driver side window for one press open close. Truck remembers everything else but that one it forgets.

That one would have been better. I could permanently attach the plugs to the battery and then just plug the unit in. Mine came with the wires permanently connected to the unit.

I've found that once the truck decides it needs to charge the battery it doesn't get out of that mode. If you drive for a bit and then turn it off manually, stop/start will work after it's restarted.

Dang. Mine was 35 bucks. I’m not sure the convenience factor on that is worth it. Maybe if I was still looking.

It's more than just "convenience factor."

This is the set-up I use:

It's plugged in and mounted on the wall in front of my truck in the garage.

I just pop my hood each time and connect it with the quick-connect:

This is the terminal harness that simply attaches to the battery for the quick-connect:

I may have to look into this. My trips are short in the winter to work and home, so with the lights on, heater and other items that uses power, I had ”Vehicle Charging.” pretty often instead of Auto Start/Stop working this past Winter. At the end, I would of take it out for a drive out about 10 miles to "top off" the battery.. Now this, I won't need to waste gas charging it up.

I am not too far from making a purchase of the CTEK system, and was wondering how often should plug this in? Once a week or daily?

The only problem with these is that you only have a 1.25 amp maximum output (guessing the average output is closer to 1.05 amp). That might baaaaaaaaarely trickle your truck, but if you had any actual draw or loss in there, or in the future with alternator age, you'll have to replace that unit and get something that actually charges your battery. That also won't restore a dead battery or work with other types of batteries.

If you want to buy one charger that will work for all your potential needs, saving money in the long run, something with 4 amps, 6v capabilities and lithium ion capabilities and can bump a dead battery, Here is a unit that has don'e very well for me the past few years as an addition to a 3.8 amp unit for my other cars. $60 well spent.

Duracell battery charger

I've had nothing but problems with the Noco Genius brand chargers. After going through 3 of them in a year (warranty application) I suddenly found that Batteries + Bulbs didn't carry them anymore due to astronomical warranty replacements. Per their staff the average person was going through 2 of them a year so they went with the more expensive but drastically more reliable Duracell units.
