If you have any ability to use a wrench and some patience, it's super easy. It's a little cramped where the stock dipstick is. I think it took me about 15 to 20mins.
55+ years in maintenance on anything from cars to shipboard propulsion steam plant to 800 mw nuclear reactors here, think I may invest in that kit. I don’t like not being able to check fluid levels myself. Thank you.

Super easy, ordered it online along with a case of fluid, a new filter and gasket. Dropped it off at my buddy's shop and picked it up later that day. Easy-peasy.
Thank you

Good God could they have engineered this *&^% transmission any worse? No dipstick under hood and the f&cking thing craters at thirty thousand miles? Mine is still at the dealer waiting for parts for the rebuild. I'm sick of the whole thing. On the so called bright side. Sounds like the Colorado and Canyon twins are even worse than the Ranger

I’m original owner of a 2019 XLT w/65K miles. It’s bone stock except for MBRP exhaust; never had a ā€˜tune’. Lots of highway mileage; I don’t tow. At 60K miles, started to exhibit what I thought were trans-only related issues: Hard/ā€˜clunky’ shifts, ā€˜bucking’, especially in higher gears (7-10); also tried to shift at relatively slow speeds, but then ā€˜hunts’ back & forth (in ā€˜Drive’) continuously. I’d lock those gears out, or "manuallyā€œ shift in Sport mode. Had minor RPM surging when shifting into 4th, but never any slipping in any gear.

Did tranny drain/fill & filter. Fluid was coffee-colored w/some metal on the magnet; fortunately, it did not smell ā€˜burned’. Filter was extremely dirty. I let it drip overnight & recovered almost 9 quarts of ATF. No change in trans issues.

Another odd thing: Very slight hesitation when accelerating off-idle. Should’ve been the clue. Never had any OBD codes. I ā€˜reprogrammed’ the throttle position sensor… it didn’t solve anything.

Finally swapped out the DPFE sensor: Cured everything.

I too have done the electric pump, but I've since upgraded to one of these:

I use the air compressor vacuum option, but the hand pump works fine as well. Neater, cleaner, and less hassle than the electric pump.

Well then, I think you should be fine. I also don't like the idea of not being able to check the fluids. It's a quality piece and worth every bit the price.

I have one similar that I got from harbor freight. It was a open box that was discounted. I don't think mine has an air compressor option. It doesn't take long with the manual pump and like you said, it's an all around great option.
