Hello everyone. I am going to change my transmission fluid and filter in a few days.

The manual states the filter is FT215 but the dealer said it is FT202. Is this correct?

Also how many quarts of Mercon ULV is needed?

I used an FT202, purchased from RockAuto - it looked identical to the one I pulled out. I bought 6 quarts of ULV fluid and used 5ish I believe. RockAuto is probably the cheapest place to buy the ULV unless you can find a deal at Napa (they sometimes put it on sale).

I'm curious as to how many miles on your truck.

Measure how much is drained and put back exactly the same amount...I hear the trans has 12 qt capacity but you can't get all of it out...my first drain I got 7 qt out...my second I was only able to get 5.5 qt...

I am at 7K trouble free miles since adding LubeGard Platinum with a double fluid change.... that is more mileage than I had driven the truck in the previous 2 years - due to the severe transmission issues!

I am changing the engine oil in the next few days, and will replace the transmission fluid one last time before settling on a routine change interval of probably 20K miles, maybe 25K to get me to 50K when the filter will be replaced and the PPE deep pan installed.

The nightmares are just beginning to subside.

I almost forgot another important add on....The Fitz Stick! Since you're doing all this you should add this so you'll be able to check you fluid easier and add/drain through it later on.

No fan of aftermarket snake oil here, but Lubegard is the real deal. I used one of their products in a BMW 5hp30 transmission for many years and it was the ONLY thing that eliminated torque converter clutch chatter for me. A friend whose automotive savvy I respect often thanks me for recommending Lubegard to him. The spec sheet says it's loaded with friction modifiers that improve ATF lubricity. I'm a believer.

With so many positive reviews, so few negatives, and personal experience, yes, the real deal. A reputable company.

Probably decided to get out of here before we sell him on a PPE pan (which must have a TGD) to go along with the dipstick and Lubguard...

Still here. lol. I already installed the Fitz stick a few months ago. Have a fluid transfer pump for the job. Waiting on the fluid and filter to arrive. Anyone know the torque specs for the trans bolts?

How much Lubegard do you add to the trans fluid?

Just get a 15oz. bottle and dump it in. I don't think you can add too much. That's what I did after the flush.
