Even without the tow package it should have a tow/haul button, I think. But, that is incorrect. I use adaptive cruise all the time while towing, mine has factory tow package and the dealer installed EBC.
I'm thinking of the message that pops up on the left screen when a trailer is hooked up or the tow mode button is on. I thought it mentioned ACC and emergency braking but you're probably right. I've only towed in town.

Just did a two week camping trip and travelled 3200kms/2000m towing our Tab. Loaded the truck up with toys and gear. The trailer weighs in around 2000lbs. Towed in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec from Nova Scotia through New Brunswick. Gas mileage was between 14-18 mpg depending on speed. The old roads take longer but mileage and scenery is way better.

I'm thinking of the message that pops up on the left screen when a trailer is hooked up or the tow mode button is on. I thought it mentioned ACC and emergency braking but you're probably right. I've only towed in town.
Only message I recall ever getting is that the backup/parking sensors are disabled when I connect a trailer. I don't like my truck under about 1,800 rpm (prefer over 2k) so I almost always have the truck in tow/haul mode, or sport mode. But the only thing that popups up with the button is the icon showing that tow/haul is enabled. It also activates the +12V in the 7-pin, so if you wanted to run a 12V device in the bed without a connected trailer you could make a 7-pin to what every connection you needed and power it by enabling the tow/haul mode manually.

literally the only thing that frustrates me is the tongue weight limit of 750 pounds. i'd like a toy hauler, but those things are really heavy on the tongue weight. there are a few out there that can make it work within the truck's rated limits, but they come with some drawbacks.

otherwise, ya gotta just love this engine. i wouldn't have guessed it would be so impressive when i got it, but now i know. also seeing what some of the people on this forum tow is awesome.

Yes, unloaded a toy hauler is very tongue heavy, with the right toys in the back though the loaded tongue weight is often under the empty tongue weight.

yeah i think that's the issue. any toy hauler with a tongue weight within the ranger's spec is too small to fit something like a side-by-side, which i'd say falls into the right kind of toy you are referring to. maybe a couple of quads... there are a lot of toy hauler options around the 800-900 pound tongue weight mark, but exceeding specified limits on a regular basis is just unwise, imo. i'm sure people do it regularly tho; i'm just a sissy about it.

I'm talking about any toy hauler with a GVW within Ranger's limit but with an empty tongue weight (TW) of 850-1000 pounds. When you put the toy in, the TW could then be within the Ranger's 750lb limit. Adding 1200-1500 lbs at the back of the toy hauler should reduce the TW. While loading and unload you clearly want the truck attached, but I would keep the tongue jack holding some weight so the empty weight is never fully on the hitch. So, as long as it's loaded up, you may be ok to pull it with the Ranger, just can't move it empty with the Ranger. It really would require testing the toy hauler with the indented toy loaded to see what the resulting TW is.

I would never suggest exceeded the documented limits, but in the case like a toy hauler they have to document the empty TW, but they balance out when properly loaded and could be in the Ranger's allowed limits then. Even a standard camper, that on paper could be in spec, may not be if improperly loaded. Just need to know what you are working with, and it may require renting the toy hauler, the subject toy, and a 3/4 ton and taking a trip to a cat scale to know for sure "as loaded" weights are in spec for you to pull with the Ranger.

ohh i'm trackin with ya now. yeah I get your point. it's doable, but more hassle than if the truck had just a hair more TW capacity.
