We got a small travel trailer this past spring. At the time I bought a set of those strap on towing mirrors. I am not happy with them, they vibrate to much, the shift around and I am afraid they will fall off going down the road.

I have been looking for mirrors that replace the factory mirrors that extend out when towing. The only ones I have found that have all the features of my Lariat mirrors are from Clearview. But at $975 they are pricey.

Has anyone found another outfit that has mirrors that are electrically adjustable, heated, have the BLIS indicators and power fold?

I don’t know about any other options, I looked around too before I ended up shelling out for the Clearviews, and really can’t say enough good things about them. They’re great for towing, but I like the wide convex mirror at the bottom for freeway driving too, really makes a difference being able to see every lane in the rear view. Install wasn’t bad either - I managed to do it without popping off the door panels.

Have them also, on my Lariat.
I have scoured the web for any company that makes anything similar to the ClearView, and non exist. No company even makes a sturdy clip on extension like the ones available for all the full size trucks from the "Big 3".
There was a member on here some months back...can't remember who....that was making some 3D type mirror extensions that had a nice, sturdy way of attaching......
Anybody else remember, and what was the outcome ?
Aside from that, only ClearView's

I have the Clearviews also and love them. Yes, they are a bit pricey. I had a pair of clamp on mirror that worked OK, but having to deal with them anytime I needed to tow my TT was a pain. Strap-ons just don't work with the shape of our mirrors. Having them always there, just pull them out when needed is great. I totally agree on the lower wide views. I use them everytime I back out of my driveway, as I have a set of low steps I need to miss on the passenger side.

Cry once and never cuss about mirrors again.

The Clearviews are nice but as you have stated, very pricey. I used strap-on mirrors when I was towing the TT and had no problem with them. I would cross the straps so that one was helping to hold the other in place. I bought a second pair of them on Amazon when they were less than $10 as I had heard reports of them blowing off. Never had that problem but always towed at 65 or less, mostly at 60.

What areas can't you see? I found that with my travel trailer I could see along the sides (with maybe 18" of blindspot at the back, i.e. if a motorcycle were riding adjacent at the far inside of the lane they would be partially obscured). The bigger issue for me was seeing traffic further back. A camera solved that completely, and was about $900 less. Mirros won't help directly behind you either.

With my trailer I can not see down the sides of the trailer at all. The first thing I did after bringing the trailer home was to mount a wireless camera on the back so I can see what is behind me just fine. The strap on mirrors allow a view of the sides but as I previously mentioned I don't like the vibration.

How wide is your trailer? Mine is 8'. I thought I had huge blind spots, until the camera made me realize cars that were still 5-10' behind me in adjacent lanes were visible from my mirrors. I'm not saying better mirros wouldn't help, but my camera was $100 with monitor off amazon. Easily the best upgrade I've made for towing.

My trailer is 8' wide. Between the camera I mounted on the back of the trailer, the blind spot monitors and the factory mirrors I have no issues keeping track of what is around me while traveling down the road. I want the towing mirrors so I can see the sides of the trailer backing up. I have on several occasions almost side swiped a tree backing into a spot because I can't see what's to my sides.

I bought the $1k Clearview mirrors with all the bells and whistles and am happy with them. However, I found that folding in the mirrors makes very little difference. The mirrors stick out 14” from the door. Folded in that only goes down to 10 ½”. The heated option and bliss I can completely live without. If I had it to over again, I would buy the $550 pair that are still power adjustable and save a ton of money that way.

I review I posted of them is here if it helps.
