Hey everybody. I have a 2022 FX4. Looking to put on my Eibach Pro Truck 2R and Icon UCAs. I don't want to do the full lift height since I do tow a travel trailer. Probably 1.5in or 2in. Currently I have the stock 265/60R18s on. I'm trying to figure out what larger size tire I can go up to without having to do any trimming or changing crash bars. I'm looking at the Wildpeak AT4 or AT4 with the stock rim. Any insight or ideas is greatly appreciated.

I have the Eibach level kit. I have these tires: LT265/70R-18 LR-E Discoverer AT3 XLT .

Have no issues at all. I have the truck tires, because I thought I would be buying a camping trailer to tow. However, around my way, that notion was a non starter. I think the overall problem is that it wasn't expensive enough, so we ended buying a Sprinter based camper van.

Still, I don't worry on trails with heavier duty tires.

I would love a sprinter van but the money wasn't there. Haha. I'm looking at the E rated tires. I had them on my 2005 F150 and they did just fine on trails.

I put on XL load Coopers and think they are a great average of SL and E rated, if you don't want the harshness and heaviness of E rated tires.

Nice. Never really seen XL rated tires. I'll check it out.

Just for reference for you. I tow and I put the EIBACH PRO-TRUCK LIFT SYSTEM with 3-1/2" in the front and 1" in the rear, Grimm UCA's, and crash bar replacements.

Started out with the 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. The SL load rating not the "C" load rating. 2,756 lbs load and 48lb weight "SL" vs 2,835 lbs load and 64lb weight "C". I liked them. They wore evenly but quickly. A trait of that tire shared by some other 5G members as well. They wore out so prematurely that I wouldn't by another set even though I really liked the tire. I currently have 285/70/17 COOPER DISCOVERER RUGGED TREKs. Also SL at 2,756 lbs load at 46 lbs weight. For reference, the same "SL" Wildpeak AT4 weighs 53lbs. The "C" load AT4 is a whopping 67lbs.

The Nitto's had no mileage warranty where the Cooper's have a 60k mile warranty. The Cooper's ride better but are noisier. Both have excellent sand, rock, mud and deep snow traction. I haven't driven on ice with either. I have not experienced a nail or puncture of any kind on either tire.

Both tires seem to handle towing very well. I tow right up to the Ranger's listed towing limits (7200+ lbs Travel Trailer) and have no issues with either tire for towing. I have towed more miles with the Nitto's, which were excellent. Not as many yet with the Cooper's but they seem to do fine with the smaller sample size. I did have to buy an extra long drop hitch for my equalizer hitch system to accommodate the lift and larger tires. A lifted Ranger tows great, looks great and is an amazing off-roader.

Cost savings idea, I ran my lifted truck with the stock UCA's for a very long time with no problems with the full 3-1/2" front lift. I only put the Grimm UCA's on because a forum member was selling them for cheap. They had not been previously installed. I have had a much harder time getting the alignment right (cupping front tires) with the aftermarket UCA vs the OEM UCA. In retrospect, I would keep the OEM UCA's and not switch them out. I have a life time alignment from Firestone, which allows me to have it aligned as often as I want for no extra cost after the original purchase. The first sign of uneven wear and its back for another alignment. I highly recommend it as the lifted geometry seems to be difficult to get just right. I still don't have it right after the new UCA's and its been aligned 3 times now.

Hope that is helpful in your decision making process.

Oh dang and here I thought with my Old Man Emu 2" I could go up to 265/65/18. So it's safe to say 275/65/18 will be a safe spot without crash bar mod?

That sounds pretty good to me. I also have the RC 3.5” leveling lift kit on my 21 sport 4x4. Are you running wheel spacers? Factory rims or after market offset rims? If so what is the offset? Any help is appreciated.

No spacers, Roush Rims but I don't know if there is an offset :(
Is it stamped somewhere on the rim?

As far as offset goes from what I’ve read as the rim is offset you gain clearance on the inside. I put 285 70/17 my tires +12mm offset rim on my truck yesterday and had to trim my Rough Country fender flares right away. Only on the inside so I used my occilating saw and did that in . Today I’m going to trim both crash bars just a bit. The tires are rubbing on tight turns when I’m parking or breaking while tight turning.

I didn’t see it stamped on my +12 MM rims I installed yesterday. 285 70/17 mud tires are rubbing. Had to trim my Rough country fender flares right away with the 3.5 Rough Country leveling kit. Today I’m trimming the crash bars just a bit since the mud tires are rubbing on tight turns. The mud tire actually has 10” of tread while an ATV has 9” of tread. So I’m going to trim the crash bars because of the wider stance of the mud tire.
