I turned both the off road gauge and screen on prior to installing the switch, and then turned on selectable drive mode after. I doubt it matters with selectable drive mode since you need to press the button to change it.

There is a list in the wiki showing most of it. I did find that everything I was interested in was available as a menu pick in FORScan so you don't need to find the address and then change the hex.

I just received an email from the parts company. They warned me that the part I ordered was for "special transmission", and didn't match my vin with "standard transmission". They were asking to correct my order. lol.

I would expect a dealer selling parts to be able to see what my truck was equipped with by looking at the VIN, and then telling me that it don't fit. I didn't provide my VIN so I didn't get the warning, but it didn't matter to me since it was an experiment based on data provided by others on this forum.

FYI, dealers aren't all equal either. I wanted the Ford trailer brake controller and ordered online. That dealer sent me an email saying the kit didn't fit my truck and wanted to know if I wanted to cancel since they have a no return policy. So I cancelled and went through forum posts and online suppliers to be sure I ordered the correct part. I did. I then ordered through a different online dealer, and mentioned that I was told that the kit didn't fit my truck. The reply was they had already sold a bunch and the kit does fit, along with a comment about all dealers are not knowledgeable.

When I got mine I went on the lot and found a FX4. Took a pic of the VIN and told them I needed the knob for that VIN, not mine. He looked it up and said that's not your truck. I said no it's not but I need the part for the FX4 VIN. He said Ok, and I got the part 3 days later.

I politely declined their assistance and asked them to fulfill the original order. It shipped today..

Utilized the TM at the beach today in some very loose powdery sand. I can tell in sand mode the truck responds differently than when in 4hi only. When in 4hi I was getting wheel spin and needed some engine revs to get thru the really soft sand. In sand mode smooth as butter. The truck crawled through the sand easy as pie. Nothing dramatic no running up the RPMs and tossing sand.
I’m certain it’s not a placebo effect. It does actually work.

Great information thank you! Perfect test as you had to deal with soft sand before and after you had the button and mode enabled.

Anyone know how long it takes to get a FORScan account? I’m assuming I have to get a license to make any configuration changes?
I registered Tuesday, received confirmation that my account would be activated “soon”.

This was also my thinking on it
I'm on a mac to it wasn't as straight forward as I'd hoped. I tried using crossover which is pretty light weight. It wouldn't recognize the drivers for the ELM I have. I spent all morning tinkering with different drivers and config, then i broke down and started googling. Looks like there isn't a solution for Catalina (yet) and I didn't feel like messing with it any more, so I resorted to VirtualBox and had to find a "liberated" copy of windows 7. Finally got Forscan to recognize the ELM.

Then it wouldn't load any modules to edit. I was about to pull my hair out since there is limited info on the internet about Forscan on various versions of osX. Any who, I got a wild hair and decided to downgrade Forscan versions. Boom. The previous version worked like a champ.

Now I'm the proud owner of the Off Road screen, Selected Drive Mode, a raptor splash screen (silly yes. My truck. Don't care) and of course Bambi mode.

I'd offer to do a little write up the on the apple process, but I tinkered so much, I don't know how accurate it would be.
