I've been communicating with Eddy at Suma Performance. Their initial Group Buy offer got little traction although it did spark some conversation after the initial offer.

Bear with me as I post this and then get Suma to validate or correct me.

I had decided wider field of view mirrors would be a nice update to my Lariat but stick on or clamp on options aren't what I want no matter how cheap. I don't tow anything large enough or frequently enough to go all in on the Awesome Aussie Clearviews ($$$) but after going out of town in heavy stop and go traffic (no trailer this time) I realized my mid sized truck would feel a lot safer with improved side/rear vision. It's especially important since my wife occasionally drives the truck. πŸ₯°

The Suma solution seems to be the premium upgrade for the stock mirror but I didn't see the expense making it a priority purchase.

That's when Eddy offered to give the forum another crack at a group buy. Note the date, and wait for Suma to update the options and sign off on this post.

Group Buy up to 30% Off for Suma Mirrors, expiring 6/30/23. PRE-ORDER GROUP BUY LINK
10% off automatically when you apply code "RANGER" at check out.
Details on Group Buy:
-Automatic 10% off by applying "RANGER" at check out.
-If 10 or more pre-orders, receive total 15% discount.
-If 20 or more pre-orders, receive total 20% discount.
-If 30 or more pre-orders, receive total 30% discount.

"Tired of blind spots? or just wanted to see more to feel safer when you drive? Suma Performance enhances your driving experience!"

So why this time? The potential for a discount of course. You may see Suma's current sale offering for the mirrors and it's not a barn burner - I'm guessing it's their standard sale discount and even with the installment payment option it's tough to fit that expense in with other projects.

You can get replacements with the exact factory options you have now but the wider view sure, if you are looking to upgrade/customize the truck then some wiring harnesses and/or ingenuity will get you things you might not have now.

I've got the BLIS system and heated mirrors, and the Lariats have the turn signal in the forward facing/side mirror cover.

Eddy has confirmed they can build in an LED turn indicator into the glass, something Ford did not put in any model Ranger. It's a $10 option add on although hooking it up is going to be on the truck owner.

Not a Ranger but similar:

The blue anti-glare option is also not available from Ford but after going through a lot of their reviews I'm reading it's not really as desirable for everyone. I spent good money on professionally installed ceramic tint anyway.

So I'm commiting to a pair for my Ranger. The lead times are the same as before (6-8 weeks) since these are basically custom made so I'll be taking advantage of the install payment plan.

If y'all could, post your order number here if/when you commit so we can anticipate how much the forum is saving?

any idea if they can do BLIS + a Spotter mirror and combine the best of both worlds? I bought my XLT off the lot, but would prefer the physical spotter/blind-spot mirror.

I've considered swapping directly for spotter mirrors of a base model Ranger and just saying to hell with BLIS, but if I could have both and get those blinking cross traffic and reverse alerts., I'd be a buyer.

I'd happily give up BLIS for those inset convex mirrors, but not giving up mirror heat. As is I just stuck 2" round convex over the BLIS lights and get all the functionality I want for $3, although admittedly not quite as pretty as factory convex.

I think since the entire mirror from within the factory housing is convex it sort of is a 'spotter mirror.' I think you can find stick on versions in that general add on shape for cheap.

If Suma sees your request maybe they'll respond. I've seen videos implying two mirror surfaces within a single housing isn't seen as desired.

You won't need the spotter mirror since the Suma mirror as a whole is a convex mirror!

I'm waiting for the turn signal option to show up on the pre-order link so I can place my order...

EDIT: the option is there.

I just placed my pre-order.
Same here. I'll post my order number per the vendors request when I get it.

@Suma Performance how does the (potential) group buy discount get applied at the end of the pre order period? Especially since I went with the installment plan?

We need an accurate running count of how many have ordered to know what the discount rate is at. Preferably by SUMA directly so there is no confusion.

I'm aware of only one forum member who received a pair some time ago and hadn't had the chance to swap theirs out.

At the moment if we collectively present our purchases it can can be documented and demanded if them.

With a cutoff date it gives us - and the vendor - a mutual understanding and hopefully agreement in the offer.

If you're holding out to get the best chance at a significant discount over the basic 10% I'd suggest setting a calendar reminder.

At this moment it looks like two of us have jumped in.

I (selfishly) hope more R5G members go for this of course, please excuse me if I attempt to push this post up daily for visibility.

The installment payment plan has made it a little easier to budget... Looks like I'll have paid for them about the time they get shipped (6 weeks or so) ?

Here is my selfish daily bump.

I've spent money on a lot of stuff on my truck and it's debatable what is purely cosmetic, marginally performance enhancing vs. a perceived benefit.

I don't know if talking about actual cash outlays are convincing in this promotion but I see a few considerations:

First, why not just leave the mirrors stock, zero dollars? Is there something so bad about Ford's design that it needs replacement?

I could point to many threads that debate replacement suspension components, engine parts that were and weren't on certain models and replacement parts of a range of prices and complexity.

I'd been ambivalent about the mirrors except when renting U haul trailers and negotiating traffic frequently. I really appreciate the BLIS system as a safety enhancement but on older cars I've done the typical thing and stuck a convex mirror on at least the driver's side. In this case I wouldn't want to worry about giving up mirror space and possibly blocking the indicator light. So for I don't see a large benefit in that $10 fix.

There are companies that make convex mirrors that use the entire surface which sounds like the same benefit as what Suma offers, but if you have BLIS and/or mirror heat it doesn't seem a smart move for that $50-ish spend.

From $10-50-200 the Suma's enter into consideration. From going through various sources the difference in design and manufacturing it seems a reasonable cost difference to retain all the factory features while gaining a wider rear view field.

The only superior alternative is the Clearview replacement mirrors, and if you tow a lot recreationally or commercially probably a better choice - the four times the cost of the Sumas are completely justified.

$200 isn't the least or biggest spend on my truck - I've probably spent nearly that much on exterior LEDs and lenses. Adding rear view signals is a unique enhancement in my mind. It's sort of like the SuperBumper that I hope I never have to rely on. That thing cost what the Suma mirrors do.
