I have uh ... 78 miles on the truck (I just brought it home from the dealer last night) :like:

I kept getting alerts on my drive to Home Depot this morning that the parking brake was engaged and I had to push it down a bout a half inch to get the warning to go away. I realized that it looks like there was excess leather bunching up making it hard for the parking brake to fully retract, and being brand new the leather around it is still pretty stiff.

Is there an obvious fix for this I'm overlooking short of pushing the brake down every time?

Hi Doug,

Congrats on your new Ranger! That said...It might be a good idea to have the dealership service dept have a look at it as it likely will be a simple adjustment, but if trim needs to be removed...better they do it than risk your breaking a clip or tab...then it is on their dime...not yours... JMO.

Roger that, and thanks! I live just down the road from a dealership so you're right - no point taking any chances.

I've noticed the same thing with my handle. I've just gotten used to being assertive with my release of the brake handle and push it down all in one motion. It really hasn't bothered me after a month of owning it now but I can understand if you're used to just being able to release the brake and roll.

Mine started doing the same thing when the weather got colder. Apparently it's getting stiff with a cold weather. I was thinking about putting leather conditioner on mine.
