Been busy shifting some things around.


A few weeks ago I dry poured a quick 1.5" concrete pad under the truck / between parking ramps. I will eventually go back and put down a smoothed 2" top layer. This pad receives no weight and its only purpose is so I don't have to lay in gravel anymore. I will eventually expand it so it all runs up to the concrete sill already in place. I also set me up a little chill spot in the back with my unused patio table and chairs. Nice place to sit and work on electrical stuff too. Sometimes sitting at a work bench for hours on end is a little rough.

Internal sliding and folding barn doors are cool from a novel stand point. However it gets a little old after a while. That and I was giving up valuable square footage in the front corners for clearance. Everything came down and I am currently setting is up standard like. Eventually a sort of boxed-in awning is going to close in the rail hardware to weatherize it and hide it. Paint to come as well of course. This method also required me to cut some "door passage" channels in the overhang of my roof. I did a quick hack job with some tin-snips, I will eventually go back and put some flashing back over it to make it pretty.

I plan to seal the top opening with some large weather stripping when I get to that point.

Little more prep work before the weekend. Probably go in the morning when I get off work to get the small amount of lumber I need to make the awning joist.

My neighbor happens to have a bunch of old leftover black carport paneling so I'm going to end up painting that and using that as the awning roof.

Going to use the old silver paint I originally had as the primer see about getting a slightly darker tint so it matches a little bit better you can clearly see the color difference between what I painted today and the actual panel coloring of the garage.

The trim color is close enough though.

Still plenty of fit and finish work to do.

I don't have much to show off now, but closing on a place wit a 40' x 60' shop. There is an apartment on one end. The open shop area is 40'x 40' with a 15' x 20' workshop area and apartment taking up the rest off the space. Looking forward to installing a lift.

Was just down at one of my (very messy) catch all buildings , this guy always saying "hi" .... Thats a WV trooper from way back , its modeled after the actual trooper ... They used to have a pipe mounted in roads that they put those in during school times , Can t remember the story or his name though...

I actually saw one show up on American Pickers show when they we in WV , this one in WAY better shape , can t remember what they offered the guy , but that part of the show is "questionable " to me at best .

Toying around with the metal awning joist with leftover scrap wood I think for this to come out looking right I'm going to need to go to a 10-in wide piece so I can get enough angling support to completely cover the box.

So this is where I ended up going with it. Now I just need to get some flashing and do some quality assurance work.

Need some quick input as I have to go get more paint anyhow in. Should I stop the darker paint at the line you see in this picture or should I just take it up to where the panel ends which is if you can't see it right below the mounted camera.

Well thats all I can get done till I am off again on Wednesday. I think the awning setup has come out really well so far.

Also, that little shit in the first picture ate my friggin Sushi I bought at the store I left out on the patio table while I ran inside to take a leak.

The shop is looking good OFC. I'm looking at a house with a 30x40 pole barn on the property with the tallest doors I've seen, a loft an a half bath. The barn is worth more than the house.

Sounds like my kind of place. I decided if I ever buy acreage and build me a tiny house that is like 800 square feet my garage will probably be 1600 square feet. Lol
