My garage has a large support beam across the middle and as a result my garage door will not quite completely open fully and the antenna on the ranger is just slightly too long and hits the door.

Not a huge deal as I dont park in there all the time(wifes spot) but when I do Id rather not have to take it off each time.

Ive never had a Ford, or other car for that matter, with an antenna like this, so have any of you had any success with something shorter, be it generic or Ford, whatever.

Cheers, Todd

I'm going to see if the Edge fin antenna will fit like I did on my Fusion. Stick antennas suck.

I assume it's removable, if so, can you take it off and measure the thread length and gauge?

It screws off just fine, only way I could back into the garage, local stations seemed ok even without it and I live in the sticks,.

Owners manual says to take it off for a car wash, but I assume it means those beater brush ones that beat the hell outta you truck, Ive been through a couple "no touch" ones with no issues.

I bought this stubby antenna for my 2017 Escape and kept it when I traded it for my Ranger. It fitted perfectly on the Ranger and is much shorter than the stock unit (four inches). Reception was great on my Escape and seems to be good on my Ranger so far.

I do think however , that if you just needed a couple inches, like my garage door issue, that the stock one could be trimmed if you had a decent topper to make it look presentable.

We'll see how this one does and confirm later.

Reception in urban areas that are close to the transmitter tower may not be the problem. Its the fringe areas where you may find that reception will suffer quicker with shorter antennas.

I am definitely not urban, lol .

I,ll check out some stations from Detroit today, which is about 70 miles as the crow flies, but so far the comparison to my Frontier with the full length fender antenna seems good.

I mostly stream music from my phone through Apple Carplay or through Satellite radio and rarely listen to terrestrial radio. I'm concerned that after a 3.5" lift that the stock antenna won't fit through my garage door, so I ordered the 2" stubby antenna @rangerdanger posted earlier.

Most FM and HD stations are still coming in clearly, but a few stations aren't coming in as clearly as before.
