Does anyone happen to know what type of bolts are needed to mount something to the Load Bars? I used to have a Frontrunner Roof Rack and you could use a 5/16 bolt and mount pretty much anything to it. These Load Bars appear to have a similar setup but haven't been able to source a bolt that fits it perfectly.

I'm interested in installing a 180 degree awing in the back but gotta be sure it'll actually mount to the load bars before I pull the trigger!

So after a LONG journey trying to get my truck outfitted with an RSI smartcap, I was finally able to work with a local company to get it delivered, however there was still a long wait for the crossbars 🤦🏻‍♂️ It took about 6 weeks for it to arrive to Hawaii (not bad) but it would have taken another 6 weeks for the shop to be able to install. Since it was just me and my two kids, I didn't think it would be able to lift it onto the bed of the truck, but I brought it home anyway and put it together, hoping I could scrounge up a couple of neighbors when it was over (living in Tacoma Country, we’re a bit ostracised by driving a Ranger).
putting it together was very simple, completed by mysef in about 1.5 hrs. You will need a small torque wrench in the final stages to ensure tightness between pieces.
I made a plan using a cart, wood and a jack to lift it over the bedrails, but decided to see if my boys were feeling manly that day. Surprisingly, they were able to lift one side and I the other, we walked it into the bed from my porch and I made final adjustments by lifting from the inside. Anyway, here are some pictures. This cap is stong, the windows are huge and with magnets, customizations are endless. It does look a bit odd at certain angles, but looks fantastic in others. It’s been rainy these past few months (26” per month) and so far the cap itself is holding out the rain (though the many holes in the bed needs attention). Also, the 3rd brakelight is still in development and estimated to be another 2 months.

Do these caps require assembly?

I have the SmartCap and I’d say it’s worth every penny. The build quality is superb and it’s transformed my truck for camping and off-road adventures . The height , the gull wing doors are amazing too. It’s built to last.

JR
Can you tell me what height the rear opening is? The tallest item you could slide into your bed (measurement from bed floor to top of opened rear door) Thanks!

Yes, there are 5 panels. Use a small torque wrench to tighten properly. I did it myself in a few hours. Not too bad at all. The only hard part was lifting it to install in the truck (only myself and two little kids were able to do it though- I don’t have friends🤣).
The opening looks to be about 37.5”- the bottom of the gasket to the edge of the bed. It’s a pretty decent load height. The max height inside is a couple inches higher. Maybe one day they will design one to remove the roof for loading tall objects without having to remove the shell! 🤩

We've got just a few Ranger Evo Sport caps for the 5ft bed in stock. These will sell super fast! If you're wanting one, grab one now. These are super hard to come by these days and the next incoming shipment of them is likely a number of months out.

I have installed a canopy on every truck I have owned. So far this is the best cap. Can't imagine going without the side doors anymore. No leaks, no issues. Installed for free at my local shop. 4 legged friends love the windows.

I just put my order in at my local shop and I don't know how they pulled it off but cross my fingers they have several extra with ONE of them with my name on it. I have a lightning blue as well, can't wait to get this thing!

EDIT: I should mention that this was per their supplier. They have 15 total with 5 of them being the 5ft. It's still on a container, waiting to be handed off to the supplier (in Seattle I think) who will then have to ship it to Alaska. HAHA.... so, this is why I am crossing my fingers.

Hi all, just recieved my Smartcap from @Stage3Motorsports on 11/10/2021 after placing an order at the end of September. Finally came around to installing it over the holiday and install went very smooth except for the wiring harness.

The instructions say that the harness is a T-tap that taps into the trailer 7-way. I saw that in previous posts that some of you were having issues with it with the ranger software, so they may have sent me their latest harness. Looks like the harness taps into a 6 pin plug, but I can't seem to locate it anywhere under the truck or in the driver's sidw taillight. Any help on where to find the plug to tap into would be greatly appreciated!

The harness is a Lumens 9370245

Thanks in advance :fistbump:
