Thanks all, I withdrew my deposit after evaluating all of your input… I really do appreciate it and no I’m not a flipping troll…

I guess I got caught up in real world observations and a reality check…

Again thanks!!!

Precisely what I did. Put a deposit on an F150 Lightning a couple of months ago. I like my 2021 Ranger, but its a lousy pickup truck. Nice car-ish vehicle, but not good as an actual pickup. So presuming I actually get a Lightning delivery next year, I'll trade the almost new Ranger right in!

I looked at the Rivian, but its also a lousy pickup truck, and too small to be useful for really anything other than showing off to friends that you actually have a Rivian. Too many gimmicks for me to take it seriously.

I was actually considering the Lordstown Endurance as its dimensions are very close to my dearly departed Dodge Dakota, but they actually put a speed governor on it at 75 MPH, which is simply bonkers.

So its F150 Lightning for me......
That’s the strangest comment I heard… are you for real?!? A Dakota can do real truck stuff, but your Ranger cannot? What are you doing with your trucks? I always liked the Dakotas, but I also notice few are still on the road.

That was when I started buying trucks for my business. They actually came out a little early that year as I got mine just after Memorial Day in '96 and I loved the new rounded body style. I had one of the first ones in my area and everyone seemed to really like the new look. I've towed my sleds with them all over the N'East and Canada and they were great trucks. Personally I don't like the squared off look and don't like they're going back to that style now. Funny how things seem to go full circle. ?
Yep , I bought mine just after they started hitting the dealer lots . They sold both body styles side by side that year . Here was mine :)

The list of questions I think will help with this decision
Can you wait potentially up to 1 year for this vehicle to be delivered?
Do you have the ability to install a 220v charging outlet near your parking area to charge your vehicle?
Does a Rivian with around 300 miles of range fit your daily/weekly needs?
Do you need to tow or drive long distance?
Charging is the big thing with Lithium Ion batteries of this size/capacity. People think you can just plug it in in any outlet. If you do not charge these properly at the correct input voltage your going to have issues.
I’m all in favor of electric vehicles just don’t think we’re anywhere near a complete switch over. Our power grid cannot handle it.

Nice looking truck Benny! I knew we both had great taste as mine was the same color, I'll have to dig out a picture of it later. It's in an old photo album, no smartphones back in '96. ?

Too small to be useful? The R1T has an 1800 lb payload and 11,000lb tow capability.

And the Endurance, which is apparently truck enough for him but just not fast enough, is said to have a 7500lb tow capacity. I feel like I've seen that same number on some other pickup truck...

The problem with EVs is it's greatly diminished endurance when towing...I don't doubt it can tow 11K but for how far?

Yes, that's the major drawback of an EV truck. They post the range of the vehicle, but no one posts
the range with max towing or max payload.
